Location: Preference for Seattle/North Puget Sound area, but open to top candidates located anywhere in the Western U.S. (must be able to travel regularly to Washington and Oregon)Company OverviewFounded in 2016, Cairnspring Mills is a mission-driven regenerative flour mill located in the Skagit Valley of northwest Washington state, producing fresh-milled flours made from identity-preserved grains. Our customers include many of the highest-end bakeries and food producers in the country, who pay a premium price for our exceptionally flavorful, naturally nutritious, and regeneratively grown flour.Cairnspring reached max capacity at our current mill in 2023, and we’ve recently broken ground on a much larger second mill in Northeast Oregon that will be 12X the capacity of the current mill. This individual will report directly to the CEO and oversee all sales channels—including Foodservice, Retail, Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), Co-packing, and Private Label—managing, mentoring a growing sales team to deliver on aggressive growth targets.With over 80% of our current revenue coming from foodservice and bulk flour sales, the VP of Sales will work with our Director of Food Service Sales to build on our strong foundation in 50 lb. bag distribution and full-truckload bulk sales while also scaling our omnichannel strategy, including branded retail and DTC channels.Key ResponsibilitiesSales Strategy and Leadership:Execute and refine a comprehensive omnichannel sales strategy spanning Foodservice, Retail, DTC, Co-packing, and Private Label.Oversee, mentor, and grow the omni-channel sales team to achieve both short-term revenue goals and long-term strategic objectives.Establish clear KPIs, forecasting processes, and performance tracking for all channels.Evaluate and optimize product mix for all sales channels and work with the CEO, sales, and production teams to assess and produce new SKUs to match market demand and emerging opportunities.Foodservice Growth:Support the National Director of Food Service sales of bulk 50 lb. bags through foodservice distributors (e.g., Chef’s Warehouse) and direct sales of full truckload quantities to larger production bakeries and CPG customers.Support and empower the sales team to cultivate and effectively manage relationships with large existing customers and build new strategic partnerships in the foodservice and wholesale channels.Retail, DTC, and Private Label Expansion:Drive DTC acquisition and retention strategiesCollaborate with the marketing team to build a brand awareness strategy and execute in-store promotions and DTC campaigns.Team Building and Cross-functional Collaboration:Hire, train, and mentor sales staff across all channels.Work closely with production, marketing, finance, and supply chain to ensure capacity, pricing, and product innovation support growth objectives.Provide regular updates and reporting to the CEO and Board on sales performance, pipeline, and forecasts.Key QualificationsProven Omnichannel Experience: Demonstrated track record growing omnichannel sales strategies, including foodservice sales, grocery, DTC, co-packing, and private label channels.Leadership: 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience with proven ability to grow and manage high-performing teams, preferably at high-growth, mission-driven food brands or ingredient manufacturers.Strategic and Analytical: Strong ability to build data-driven sales forecasts, manage a complex pipeline, and implement systems to support rapid growth.Industry Expertise: Deep knowledge of foodservice distribution, bulk ingredient sales, DTC and retail category dynamics, with knowledge of baking and flour category preferredCommunication & Culture Fit: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills aligned with Cairnspring’s values of respect, professionalism, and collaboration.Location & Travel: Based in the Western U.S. (Seattle area preferred).
