R&D Technician

Vitro also operates one of the world’s largest glass research and development facilities in Pittsburgh, PA and has four residential glass fabrication plants in Canada. Website: www. vitroglazings. comThe primary purpose of the R&D Technician role is to execute experiments in support of R&D and/or non-R&D customers. This role is primarily daylight hours in a professional office & laboratory setting with occasional travel requirements to other Vitro facilities within the US and Mexico. Overtime may be required in support of projects.

ResponsibilitiesWork in a safe manner and strictly adhere to all laboratory and manufacturing safety protocols. Operate and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment. Complete tasks on time and communicate any issues with tasks or questionable data to team members and experiment owners. Conduct routine tests following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Prepare and process samples. Assist in planning, coordinating, executing, documenting, and communicating experimental results both in the laboratory and at production facilities. QualificationsMinimum requirement of High School Diploma or GED plus 5 years of relevant laboratory experience. Attention to detail, documentation, planning and organization. Written and verbal communication skills.

Adherence to safe work practices in compliance with all environmental, health, safety, and security protocol is mandatory. Proficient computer skills (MS Office software). Ability to work both autonomously and in team settings. Aptitude and willingness to continue to learn and expand upon skill set. Flexibility to participate in other R&D duties, as assigned.
