Open Gov Africa - (Office of The Citizens) is a decentralized collaborative platform dedicated to promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen participation across African governments. By leveraging open data, we aim to empower citizens, track government activities, and ensure that public officials are accountable for their actions.The definition of citizens here is not just limited to office holders. Every citizen is in office via the elected/appointed official(s) who are called to serve the people.It is pertinent to note that because of the decentralised and open source nature of this project, it will continue till bad governance in Africa is corrected.To ensure continuity, there will be numerous maintainers to continue the good work of holding leaders accountable.,What if you could be part of making Africa great and changing things for good? OpenGov Africa is a civic-tech STEM startup using open source technology, data, and community-driven innovation to reimagine governance, strengthen transparency, and empower citizen participation across Africa. We are looking for a Volunteer blog writer to be part of our starter team.ResponsibilitiesResearch and write high-quality blog posts (800–1,200 words)Generate topic ideas aligned with organizational goalsSimplify complex topics into clear, engaging contentEdit and proofread content before submissionCollaborate with the communications or content team for feedbackOptimize articles for basic SEO (keywords, headings, readability)Meet agreed deadlines consistentlyQualificationsStrong writing and editing skillsAbility to research and present accurate informationA basic understanding of SEO is an added advantageGood time management and ability to work independentlyPassion for storytelling and impact-driven workPreferred Skills (Optional)Experience with blogging platforms (e.g., WordPress, Medium)Familiarity with Google Docs and collaborative toolsKnowledge of content marketing or digital communicationsTime CommitmentFlexible, remote, and project-based.Approximately 4-6 hours per week, depending on your availability.BenefitsReal Impact Help shape the voice of a Pan-African governance initiative.
