Afternoon Update: Coalition criticises Bowen’s Cop presidency; slow food pioneer dies; and a Christmas gift guide for kids

Good afternoon.
“Part-time energy minister, full-time president” was the phrase of the day in question time as the Coalition launched the sitting week with an attack on Chris Bowen. The opposition is targeting the climate and energy minister after he struck a deal to be “president of negotiations” when Turkey hosts the next Cop conference, arguing he should be focused on power prices at home.
Experts have dismissed the attack lines, with one describing the argument as evidence of an Australian “culture cringe”. Elsewhere in Canberra, the Greens say Labor’s nature laws are “still not good enough to protect the planet” and are demanding further changes in exchange for agreeing to pass them in the final sitting week of the year.
