Arrest after 'fake admiral' appears at Llandudno Remembrance Parade

A man has been arrested after a "fake admiral" incident at this year’s Remembrance Sunday ceremony in Llandudno, Conwy. Military veterans were left fuming when a suspected imposter dressed as a Rear Admiral turned up at the wreath-laying event. Suspicions were aroused when a man appeared in what appeared to be an ill-fitting uniform and non-regulation shirt while sporting a chest full of medals that couldn’t have been achieved in combination. A North Wales Police statement today (Friday) said: "A 64-year-old male has been arrested in connection with an incident at the Remembrance Sunday event in Llandudno on 9 November. "Images widely circulated in the press and on social media showed a male wearing the uniform and medals of a high-ranking navy officer whilst in attendance at the wreath-laying service." Chief Inspector Trystan Bevan said: "Our enquiries into this incident are currently ongoing. "We can confirm that, during a search of the male's address earlier today, a naval uniform and a selection of medals were recovered from within. Military veterans were left fuming when a suspected imposter dressed as a Rear Admiral turned up at the wreath-laying event.
