Married teacher who paid students, plied them with booze and drugs for sex gets 10 years in prison

A 30-year-old former substitute teacher was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Wednesday after she was convicted of paying middle school students for sex as well as providing them with drugs and alcohol.

Carissa Jane Smith of Dixon, Mo. was arrested in November of last year and charged with 19 felony counts including statutory rape and child sex trafficking, the Kansas City Star reported.

Smith utlimately pleaded guilty to lesser charges this past September.

According to authorities, Smith, who worked at multiple schools within the Dixon R-1 School District, would pay students $100 or more either in cash or through CashApp in exchange for sex acts, KRCG-TV reported.

Smith is also alleged to have supplied students with alcohol or marijuana in exchange for sex.

The alleged abuse was not limited to one-on-one encounters.

In one instance, a student was allegedly recruited by a classmate who asked if “they wanted to do some work and make some money for work” before taking them to Smith’s residence, where the abuse occurred while the friend waited outside.

Court documents details other shocking claims, including one student who alleged that Smith forced him to ejaculate insider her.

When the victim expressed his distress, stating, “That was f–ked up,” Smith’s alleged response was to offer him more money.

Authorities alleged that Smith went to great lengths to cover up her actions, including by repeatedly warnings victims not to talk about their encounters or she would “get into trouble.”
