Bears Emerging as Potential Threat to Trade for Myles Garrett

Throughout the first 11 weeks of the 2025 NFL season, the Chicago Bears have taken a huge leap in the right direction from where they have been at in recent years. Entering Week 12, the Bears sit atop the NFC North division with a 7-3 record. Caleb Williams has been playing at a good level, while first-year head coach Ben Johnson has seemingly built a new culture in town. It has been a long time since Chicago was viewed as a legitimate threat in the NFC. While there are some who still don’t think the Bears are legit, the team continues to win football games. There is still a chance that the Bears could fall apart down the stretch this season. It doesn’t seem likely, but no one can rule that possibility out entirely. With that in mind, some ideas have been suggested that would take Chicago to the next level regardless of how the 2025 season ends up going. Alex Kay of Bleacher Report has come up with an extremely aggressive move the Bears could try to make. That move would see Chicago pursuing a blockbuster trade with the Cleveland Browns for superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett. In his suggested trade idea, Kay would see Chicago trade a 2026 first-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick, and a 2027 fourth-round pick in exchange for Garrett. “According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Chicago already tried making a run at Garrett during the leadup to the 2025 trade deadline. It’s unknown what Bears general manager Ryan Poles put on the table, but Schefter described it as an ‘aggressive’ offer,” Kay wrote. “If the Bears are serious about bringing Garrett into the fold, they’ll need to offer up a package headline by two first-round picks with additional Day 2 and 3 capital included to sweeten the pot.” Bringing in a talent like Garrett would instantly take the Bears to the next tier of contenders. He has racked up 39 total tackles to go along with 15 sacks and a forced fumble. If there was one area Chicago should look to improve, it would be the pass rush. Trading for Garrett would completely fix that issue. He may not be available, but the Bears should at least look into the idea. Of course, this is all just speculation and an idea about what Chicago could try to do. Cleveland would have to be willing to move off of Garrett.
