Cops arrest Prison Warders at Kira Road Arena

Police FC got the better of Maroons FC as the two sides faced off in the derby of armed forces on Wednesday at Kira Road Police Arena. The Cops secured a 2-1 win to register their second win of the season. They had gone two games without victory (losing to SC Villa last week and drawing against NEC before). Maroons ended the game with ten men, following the sending off of Norman Odipio who got picked up two yellow cards. In today’s game, Congolese forward Bedia Djuma Ikamba was the star for the home side, bagging a brace to take his goal tally to four in five games and currently leads the scoring chart. Maroons got their consolation goal through forward Rogers Kiwanuka midway through the first half. Police FC coach Matia Lule made three changes from the team that lost to SC Villa with Tonny Kiwalazi makes his season debut at rightback while Mario Swize and Remsey Jjemba returned to the starting lineup. Like they did against SC Villa, Ikamba combined well with Denis Kalanzi with the former nodding home from the latter’s delivery from a free kick in the 17th minute. Two minutes before the break, Ikamba punished Maroons goalkeeper Hassan Matovu for miscuing Richard Matovu’s long pass thus doubling the advantage for the hosts. Kiwanuka got one back for Maroons three minutes before the break but this could only settle for a consolation after the Cops held onto their lead to claim all three points. The result takes Police up to fourth place on 8 points same as BUL FC and KCCA FC in second and third place respectively. On the other hand, Maroons FC remain ninth on the log with four points.
