The song is Jhilmil Sitaron Ka Aangan Hoga. The song is a part of the soundtrack of the 1970 film Jeevan Mrityu, featuring Dharmendra and Rakhee Gulzar.
When it comes to romantic melodies from yesteryear, very few can match the soulfulness of this particular track. Even 55 years after its release, the song, sung by Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar, continued to resonate with listeners.
The music was composed by the celebrated duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, and the lyrics of the song were penned by Anand Bakshi.
The crime thriller, directed by Satyen Basu and written by Biswanath Roy, was a remake of the 1967 Bengali film Jiban Mrityu, starring Uttam Kumar and Supriya Devi in the lead roles. Jeevan Mrityu was produced by Tarachand Barjatya.
The revolved around an honest bank manager, played by Dharmendra, who was unjustly framed for a robbery and was sentenced to prison. Years later, when he comes out, he finds that his lover has married and his mother has died. To seek vengeance, he assumes another identity.
Besides the lead pair, the film also featured Ajit Khan, Kanhaiyalal Chaturvedi, Rajindernath, and Leela Chitnis.
Even today, Jhilmil Sitaron Ka Aangan Hoga is counted among the greatest romantic hits. Its soothing tune, meaningful lyrics, and soulful singing make it timeless.
With the passing of He-Man of Bollywood, Dharmendra, on November 24, the world lost one of its brightest stars. But his spirit lives on through his unforgettable films and songs, which continue to bring joy to people.
