Netflix ran into a surge of user complaints on Wednesday evening, just as excitement for Stranger Things season five hit its peak. DownDetector showed a sudden spike in outage reports around 7:40 PM ET - barely twenty minutes before the new episodes were set to drop. The poorly timed hiccup left fans frustrated, many of whom had carved out their night specifically for the long-awaited return to Hawkins.For many, the long-awaited premiere turned into an unexpected intermission. As of 7:56 PM ET, Downdetector had logged more than 14,290 reports of problems with the streaming service, drawing on status updates gathered from multiple sources.“Some members briefly experienced an issue streaming on TV devices, but service recovered for all accounts within five minutes,” Netflix responded to Reuters via email.Netflix lists Stranger Things as its third-most popular English-language series worldwide.
