Jemimah Rodrigues Pulls Out Of WBBL After Just 3 Games: Here's Why

India Batter Jemimah Rodrigues has pulled out of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) after playing just three matches for Brisbane Heat in the tournament. She has decided to stay back in India and not return for the latter stages of the tournament to support her international teammate Smriti Mandhana, who is going through personal turmoil. In her three matches for the Heat, Rodrigues scored just 37 runs at a strike rate of 102.77. “Rodrigues will stay in India to support her teammate, and the Heat has agreed to her not returning for the final four games of the WBBL season,” a Brisbane Heat statement read. The 25-year-old batter had joined the Heat after helping India Women to their maiden World Cup title. “It has obviously been a challenging time for Jemi, so while it is unfortunate that she will take no further part in the WBBL, we were more than willing to agree to her request to remain in India," Brisbane Heat CEO Terry Svenson said.“The Heat club obviously wish her and Smriti Mandhana’s family all the best for the future,” continued Svenson’s comment.“Jemi told us she was disappointed not to be coming back and has passed on her appreciation to the club and the Heat fans for being so understanding of the circumstances. She has been in touch with the players and wishes them all the best for the rest of their games.”The Heat are currently at the bottom of the table after six matches, and are the only team yet to register a victory this season.
