Macau-Hengqin University Town set for postgraduate launch next September

Postgraduate education programs are planned to launch in September next year for the development of the Macao-Hengqin International Education University Town, with a target of 1,200 students in its first year. During the announcement of this year’s Policy Address, Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai revealed that the government is actively promoting the construction of four major engineering projects for the University Town. The projects will be carried out in three phases. Phase one involves the school establishment period, utilizing existing facilities in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and will accommodate the University of Macau (UM), Macau Polytechnic University (MPU), and Macau University of Tourism (UTM) as they begin operations. Phase two will involve the construction of UM’s Cooperation Zone Campus, and phase three will cover the construction of the Cooperation Zone campuses for MPU and UTM. In addition, the CE stated that the development of the Macau Pearl River West Bank International Air Transport Hub will focus on advancing the main structural work of the Hengqin Front Cargo Terminal, establishing an efficient transport system connecting Macau International Airport with the Hengqin cargo facility.
