Oct 27 South Africa (Greyville) form analysis

Race 1 (2,000m) (11) CHEERSCHEERSCHEERSwas disappointing last run but had the worst of the draws. He has sone some promise and meets a modest field. (5) INTROhas been knocking at the door without much luck. She should feature in the money again. (9) RED FREDshowed some improvement when going 1,600m for the first time on the Poly. He could be coming to hand. (1) GIMMETHEGOLD has only had two starts over shorter and was not too far back. Up in trip with first time blinkers. Race 2 (1,600m) (1) KANAAL SKATERenjoyed the step-up in trip at his last win. He got just a three-point raise in the handicap and can do it again. (3) SAFE TRAVELreturns from a break after winning his maiden. He looks progressive and is one to watch in the market. (6) RUN TO RIOhas come well of late and was a close-up second over course and distance last time. (2) RAGNAR THE KINGwas game in defeat last run. A repeat can see him close again. Race 3 (1,600m) (1) ONE PATHwas a beatenfavouritelast run but may just have needed it. She looks the part. (4) NAUTICAL LANDINGis never far back and ran two fair races since her overdue maiden win. The step-up in trip could suit. (9) PROM QUEENswitches to the Poly. She had a tough draw last run but is never far back. (7) POURSOMESUGARONME is always game and overdue for another win. She loves the Poly. Race 4 (1,400m) (10) MAC HARDYhas the widest draw to contend with, but he is a horse at home on the Poly and can follow up on his last win in this class. (6) SUN DAZEDmakes his local debut after showing useful enough Cape form. He should run a big race in this company. (1) GORGEOUS DUDEhas not been far back at recent outings and has a handy galloping weight from the best of the draws. (2) BRAVE VOYAGERhas not been far back at recent outings and has a good money chance. Race 5 (1,400m) Tricky handicap. (6) ULTRA QUICKhas come to hand nicely at his last two, runner-up over course and distance last time. (9) GREENLIGHT QUEENhas been improving with each outing. The tongue-tie stays on along with a useful claiming apprentice to give her an edge. (8) LEXICAN POINThas been disappointing but takes a further drop in handicap and should be competitive in this line-up. (10) TRAFALGAR SQUAREhas been most effective over sprints but he is a veteran and the step-up in trip could now suit. Race 6 (1,400m) (2) LIMITLESS SKYhas not been out since contesting a Group 1 where she copped seven points in handicap for finishing nearly seven lengths off the winner from the worst of draws. She takes on a competitive field, but Wendy Whitehead does appear to have picked the right race for her seasonal debut as she is nicely in at the weights if the handicappers are to be believed. (3) CONVOCATIONsteps up in trip but has been in good form over shorter. The extra should not be a problem and she looks a big threat. (5) SOVEREIGN GRANTswitches to the Poly after two close-up efforts on the turf. She seldom runs a poor race and can go one better after finishing behind stable companion Infinity Edge. (4) JAZZ CAFEis unbeaten in two starts since Robbie Hill added blinkers. But she did get a six-point shunt in handicap for her last win and she is taking on stronger company. Race 7 (1,200m) (10) FORTRESS OF FIREshowed potential early in his career. He makes his seasonal debut as a gelding and, if not short of a run, he will be right there. (3) BANK STREEThas good form on the Poly and theFerriestable is in mustard form at present. He is 1.5kg better off with(2) MVELELOfor a length beating, and should be able to turn the tables althoughMvelelois back over what seems to be his optimum course and distance. (6) RAINBOW REWARDwas a beatenfavouritelast run. He has consistent recent form and can make amends. Race 8 (1,200m) Wide open handicap. (2) QUENTASIAhas another handy galloping weight and a good draw. So can go close again. (5) CAPRICIOUS MISSwas a narrow maiden winner last time. But that form has since been franked, although both maiden races were not particularly strong. (4) LITTLEBLACKGEMwas much improved last start coming off a short break. She can go one better in this line-up. (11) SHIMMERINGhas her first run for a new stable after coming of her recent Highveld maiden win. If not short of a run, she should be competitive.
