Sabah polls: Two Sabah Peace Party candidates fail to submit nomination forms on time

KOTA KINABALU: Two candidates from Sabah Peace Party (SPP) failed to join in the race in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election as they arrived late at the nomination centre on Saturday (Nov 15) to submit their nomination forms. Abdul Hata Abdul Hala, the party candidate for the Sulabayan seat, arrived at the Nomination Centre at the Semporna Community Arena Hall, after nomination closed at 10am. Also failing to arrive on time to submit the nomination papers was Ahmad Daud Awang, who intended to contest in Bugaya, which is among the three state seats in the Semporna parliamentary constituency. The other two seats are Sulabayan and Senallang. The closing of the nomination process at 10am on Saturday marks the beginning of the 14-day campaign for the Sabah polls, which will end at 11.59pm on Nov 28. A total of 73 seats are being contested in the 17th state polls. The EC has set Nov 25 for early voting and Nov 29 for polling day. - Bernama
