TH Plantations appoints Borhan Bachi as CEO

TH Plantations said Borhan Bachi has held key positions in mill operations, logistics, and corporate services within the plantation division of FGV Holdings Bhd. PETALING JAYA: TH Plantations Bhd announced the appointment of Borhan Bachi as its CEO effective today. In a Bursa Malaysia filing, the company said Borhan has more than 35 years' experience in the palm oil industry, having held key positions in mill operations, logistics, and corporate services within the plantation division of FGV Holdings Bhd. “He has led strategic initiatives supporting sustainable and profitable growth across 214 estates and 66 mills with a total milling capacity of 18 million metric tonnes per year. “Prior to his position as FGV plantation division group director, he served as the CEO of PUP Bhd, where he oversaw 26 estates and two mills,” it said. In a separate filing, TH Plantations said the board executive committee, whose establishment was announced on July 18, has been dissolved from today. TH Plantations’ former CEO, Zainurin Zain, had been placed on garden leave after receiving a show-cause letter on July 18 regarding RM5.1 million in alleged unauthorised payments involving him and then chief financial officer Marliyana Omar. Marliyana resigned voluntarily on July 18. TH Plantations terminated Zainurin’s contract on Aug 26. On Sept 17, Zainurin lodged an unfair dismissal complaint with the industrial relations department over the company’s failure to respond to an appeal letter challenging his dismissal.
