Delhi blast: Did Al Falah group have shell network?

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has significantly intensified its probe into Al-Falah University by expanding the investigation to the financial operations of the Al-Falah Trust, its associated firms, and personnel managing the institutions administrative and monetary systems. The Al Falah University has come under scrutiny after the arrest of several doctors in connection with the November 10 blast near Delhis Red Fort, which killed 15 people and injured many others. The suicide bomber, Dr Umar Un Nabi, a Kashmiri resident, was associated with the varsity.Officials close to the investigation told ANI that the financial probe agency registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) earlier this week and followed it with a series of pre-dawn raids at 25 locations linked to the university, its trustees and related entities across Delhi, Haryana and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Tuesday. The operation forms part of an ongoing investigation into financial irregularities, use of shell companies, accommodation entities and money laundering. The role of the Al-Falah Trust and its financial managers is now at the centre of the EDs inquiry, the sources said as the ED team is busy conducting its searches at the 25 locations since 5 am.The ED teams have also learnt to have covered individuals responsible for handling the universitys finances, administrative flows, and documentation, after preliminary findings flagged irregular patterns across multiple entities tied to the group.A cluster of nine shell companies registered at the same address has also drawn the agencys attention, and the investigators believe these entities were created to route funds or obscure beneficial ownership.Nine shell companies linked to the Al-Falah group, all registered at a single address, are under examination, said the officials. They confirmed that early examination has revealed several red flags consistent with shell-company behaviour, including no physical presence or evidence of utilities at their declared business premises; common mobile numbers and email IDs being used across multiple companies, accounts and filings; no EPFO or ESIC compliance, inconsistent with reported operational scale; overlapping directors and signatories, with weak KYC trails; minimal salary disbursal through formal channels and absence of HR records; and synchronized dates of incorporation and identical contact details across firms.Officials have also noted prima facie discrepancies in claims made regarding University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) recognition, prompting the ED to coordinate with the concerned regulatory authorities to verify the authenticity of documents submitted by the university and its trusts. -- ANI

The Most Favoured Election Sweet: 7 Laddoo Recipes

Election times in India are also Laddoo Times. Politics and laddoos have always gone together. And laddoos really come into their own post chunavs.Hundreds and hundreds of kilos -- quintals -- of laddoos are purchased in preparation for an electoral win by the triumphant party (mostly the BJP these days) and distributed among supporters to celebrate the joy of the moment.Pedhas figure too in these dance-in-the street victory parades and election results watch parties. Sometimes jalebis. Or barfi. Maybe even cake -- massive motichoor cakes came out when the BJP won the Lok Sabha elections in 2019; so did pink-and-green, lotus-shaped pista-badam sweets.Regional sweets are often chosen too. Like in Maharashtra, modaks are batao-ed. Party symbol-embossed sondesh is the preferred nirbachoni or poll misthi in Bengal. In the South, Mysore pak is a celebratory sweet. Read more here.

Cowboys cruise past Raiders 33–16 in first game after Kneeland's death

Dak Prescott threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns as the Dallas Cowboys defeated the struggling Las Vegas Raiders 33–16 on Monday night — their first game since the death of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, News.Az reports, citing ESPN. Kneeland, 24, was found dead on Nov. 6 in an apparent suicide. Coach Brian Schottenheimer and players wore tribute shirts, and the team observed a pregame moment of silence in his honor. Dallas (4-5-1) responded with one of its strongest performances of the season, keeping faint playoff hopes alive after losing three of its previous four. Tough matchups against Philadelphia, Kansas City, and Detroit await. The Raiders (2-8) continued their downward trend under first-year coach Pete Carroll, dropping their fourth straight and eighth in nine games. Prescott was precise — minus a miss of a wide-open CeeDee Lamb for an easy touchdown — completing 25 of 44 passes to snap his four-game winless streak (0-3-1) in prime-time games. His four TD passes tied a season high, matching his total from Oct. 5 against the New York Jets. He threw primarily to George Pickens and Lamb. Pickens (nine catches, 144 yards, one touchdown) and Lamb (five receptions for 66 yards and a TD) produced big numbers despite Schottenheimer benching them for the Cowboys' first drive. Javonte Williams provided the Cowboys with balance by rushing for 93 yards on 22 carries. The Raiders had little balance, going with 32 called pass plays and three runs — Geno Smith also scrambled for 7 yards — in the first half alone. They became only the third team since at least 1991 with 30 or more dropbacks and four or few runs in a first half. The four rushes were also the Raiders' second fewest in a first half since at least that year; they had three runs against Atlanta in a 2008 game. Las Vegas finished with 12 rushes, tied for the 12th fewest in franchise history. The air-it-out approach didn't work, with Smith finishing 27 of 42 for 238 yards with a touchdown and interception. The Cowboys' defense made sure Smith had few chances to execute the offense, sacking him four times, including 1 1/2 by recent trade acquisition Quinnen Williams. Dallas sent the Jets a 2027 first-round draft pick, a 2026 second-rounder and defensive tackle Mazi Smith for Williams. Cowboys: S Donovan Wilson (knee) returned after missing two previous games. ... LB DeMarvion Overshown made his season debut and CB Shavon Revel played in his first NFL game. Both had season-ending knee injuries last year, with Revel getting hurt while playing at East Carolina. Cowboys: Host the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles in an NFC East matchup on Sunday. Raiders: Host Cleveland on Sunday.

India to triple spacecraft output over next three years

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) aims to triple its annual spacecraft production over the next three years, its chairman has said. New Delhi is planning seven more launches in the current financial year, ISRO Chairman V Narayanan told the Press Trust of India (PTI) in an interview on Sunday. India has been focusing on a strategy of rapidly scaling up scientific, technological, and industrial capacity in the space sector. ISRO aims to increase the global share of the country’s space industry from the current 2% to 8% by 2030. The industry, now valued at $8.2 billion, is projected to reach $44 billion by 2033. ISRO’s upcoming launches also include a commercial communication satellite. Narayanan said the organization is targeting a significant milestone with a satellite launch vehicle manufactured entirely domestically. The government has approved the Chandrayaan-4 moon mission for a 2028 launch, he added. It will be India’s most complex venture, aiming to bring back samples from the moon. Currently, only the US, Russia, and China have this capability. The ISRO targets to complete work on its space station by 2035. The first of the five modules for the space station will be placed in orbit by 2028, according to Narayanan. The US-led International Space Station (ISS) is nearing the end of its program, and China's Tiangong is moving into full operation. The ISRO chief clarified that only the timeline for its uncrewed spaceflight mission has been shifted. “Let me make it clear: the uncrewed mission was targeted for 2025. The crewed mission was always planned for 2027, and we are holding on to that date,” he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed ISRO to by 2040 work towards sending Indian astronauts to the moon and bringing them back safely, Narayanan said. India’s joint lunar polar exploration program with Japan's Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) aims to conduct studies at the lunar South Pole, he added.

Ex-Russian PM designated as ‘terrorist’

Russian authorities have added former Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov and economist Sergey Guriev to their official list of “terrorists and extremists”. Both individuals, who have been outspoken critics of Russia’s military operation against Ukraine, now reside abroad and have been outside the country for years. The notice was published by Russia’s financial watchdog Rosfinmonitoring on Monday, but the entry offered no explanation for the designation. However, Moscow designated Kasyanov as “foreign agent” in 2023, saying that he had been “actively taking part in the creation and distribution” of materials by other foreign agents and spreading “false information aimed at tarnishing Russian authorities.” Officials also said Kasyanov opposed Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine and participated in the “Anti-War Committee of Russia,” an expat organization created in early 2022 shortly after the outbreak of full-scale hostilities between Moscow and Kiev. At the peak of his career, Kasyanov led Russia’s government between 2000 and 2004. After leaving office, Kasyanov joined the opposition and later led the liberal-democratic Party of People’s Freedom (PARNAS), which was liquidated by the Russian Supreme Court in 2023. His critics in Russia have often referred to him by the nickname “Misha two per cent,” a moniker that emerged from long-standing corruption allegations he has denied. Guriev, rector of the New Economic School from 2004 to 2013 and now also residing abroad, was earlier accused by Moscow of creating and distributing materials by foreign agents and speaking out against Russia’s military campaign against Ukraine. Those placed on the “terrorists and extremists” register face an immediate freeze of domestic assets and strict limits on financial transactions within Russia.

Gavaskar Adds Fuel To Fire As Ashwin Questions India's Ability To Play Spin

The modern Indian batters look more accustomed to handling world-class pace bowling than spin. The Kolkata Test against South Africa laid bare India's troubles against spin bowling again, seeing the Gautam Gambhir-led team management's decision to demand a turning pitch backfire. Seeing India batters struggle, Ravichandran Ashwin didn't hesitate in suggesting that players of some Western countries are better than Indians at playing spin. The legendary Sunil Gavaskar has now explained why. "We are not the best players of spin going around in the world at this point in time. Most Western teams are better than India now because they come to India, they practice it a lot more, but we don't practice enough of it. But we are superior players of fast bowling in many other venues right now because we consider that as a challenge, but not this. That is the difference," Ashwin had said. Gavaskar, who has time and again advocated a return to domestic cricket, didn't hesitate in highlighting how Indian players shy away from playing the Ranji Trophy, even when they have time off. Hence, expecting excellence from them on turning pitches, which are also used in domestic cricket, would be too much. "A lot of our players do not play domestic cricket. If you play domestic cricket, you will get to play on such pitches, right? Because even at the domestic level, teams are trying to get the points so that they qualify for the knockouts of the Ranji Trophy, which means that there will be pitches where the ball will grip and turn a little bit," the India great Sports Tak. "But none of our players are playing that. None of our current players. How many of our current players actually deign to go down and play Ranji Trophy?" Gavaskar has also been a vocal critic of 'workload management' of players. For him, a player should be ready to play all games for the country, no matter when the call comes. Even missing Ranji Trophy games due to workload management isn't something that the batting great advocates. "No, they don't because there's this word called workload. Workload is the word. They don't want to play. They don't want to play. They only want to play in the Ranji Trophy if they are out of form. Otherwise, they don't want to play. So that is the answer. Maybe you want to look at, you know, preparing a pitch where the ball will grip and turn a little bit. Then you want to pick guys who are playing domestic cricket. We do not really want to play guys who are playing international cricket because they don't have the practice against such kind," he added.

‘Don’t touch it’: Michelle Obama tells white folks to ‘get out of’ black women’s hair

Michelle Obama is making waves after claiming that black women have been trapped by the beauty standards of white people, which is why they straighten their hair. The former first lady went on her rant during a live sit-down with Tracee Ellis Ross to discuss her new book, “The Look.” “Let me explain something to white people,” Obama said. “Our hair comes out of our head naturally in a curly pattern. So when we’re straightening it to follow your beauty standards, we’re trapped by the straightness.” “That’s why so many of us can’t swim and we run away from the water … trying to keep our hair straight for y’all! It is exhausting and it’s so expensive and it takes up so much time. Braids are for y’all so we can work harder and focus on the work,” she continued. “Why do we need an act, an act of law, to tell white folks to get out of our hair? Don’t tell me how to wear my hair. Don’t wonder about it. Don’t touch it. Just don’t,” she added. BlazeTV host Pat Gray is not amused by Obama’s little rant. “Can you imagine if this was a white person saying, ‘All right, let me talk down to black people. Let me explain something to you black people about reality.’ … You’re an instant racist if you say that. And you’re labeled as such the rest of your life,” he says on “Pat Gray Unleashed." “There’s no escape from that. How is she immune to all of that?” he asks. “Good lord,” executive producer Keith Malinak chimes in, adding, “She is insane.” Want more from Pat Gray? APAC, India Real Estate Investment To Stay Firm Through 2026: Colliers

Global real estate investors are showing renewed confidence, with capital steadily returning to Asia-Pacific (APAC) and India, according to Colliers’ 2026 Global Investor Outlook report. The survey of nearly 1,400 institutional investors points to improving liquidity, stabilising pricing and stronger market fundamentals, setting the stage for firmer investment momentum over the next two years. India continues to strengthen its position as a high-priority destination for global capital, supported by favourable demographics, stable policy conditions and a growing institutional-grade real estate stock. Institutional investments touched USD 4.3 billion in the first nine months of 2025, with full-year inflows projected at USD 5–7 billion. Office and residential assets are set to drive nearly 60 per cent of the year’s deployments. “India’s real estate sector has displayed remarkable resilience,” said Badal Yagnik, CEO & MD, Colliers India. He expects annual investments to remain in the USD 5–7 billion range in 2025 and 2026, driven by rising urbanisation, economic expansion and a balanced mix of domestic and foreign capital. APAC Capital ShiftThe report notes a decisive global pivot toward APAC, with capital raising for the region rising more than 130 per cent since 2024. APAC now accounts for 11 per cent of global real estate fundraising in the first three quarters of 2025, fuelled by investor appetite for diversification and exposure to innovation-led growth markets. India is among the fastest-rising destinations in this shift. Industrial and logistics assets remain a top priority for investors across APAC, driven by e-commerce expansion and demand for large-format warehousing. Offices are seeing renewed interest in markets such as Australia, Japan and Singapore, while high-quality retail assets are regaining favour as supply stabilises. Data centres continue to attract increasing allocations, supported by rising digital infrastructure requirements, especially in India. Market Sentiment ImprovesInvestor confidence is strengthening across the region, with 64 per cent of surveyed investors expecting improved economic conditions in 2026 and nearly 60 per cent anticipating growth in liquidity and rentals. Sam Harvey-Jones, COO–APAC at Colliers, said capital is moving “toward stability and opportunity” as pricing expectations normalise and fundamentals improve. With liquidity firming up and core segments showing resilience, Colliers expects intensified competition and higher transaction activity across APAC and India through 2026.

Sebi Chief Says REITs, InvITs Key To India’s Infra Financing Push

India must aggressively scale Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) to meet massive long-term infrastructure financing needs and reduce dependence on traditional sources of capital, the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), Tuhin Kanta Pandey, has said. Speaking at the National Conclave on REITs and InvITs 2025, Pandey described REITs and InvITs as a critical bridge between household savings and national infrastructure priorities, calling for regulatory and market reforms to boost penetration and deepen participation. Speaking at the event hosted by the Bharat InvITs Association and Indian REITs Association, Pandey urged a shift from government-led funding to market-driven investment models. “India’s infrastructure journey must now be driven by the dynamism of markets. Instruments like REITs and InvITs connect everyday household savings with long-term national assets,” he said. He noted that capital markets diversify risk, enforce transparency and strengthen governance, which makes them suitable for long-gestation projects. Pandey emphasised that India’s ambition to become a USD 5 trillion economy requires sustained capital expansion. He said that transport, energy, telecom, aviation, warehousing and urban infrastructure will together require more than Rs 700 trillion in investment by 2047, underlining that “the next phase of India’s infrastructure story must be driven by markets and by instruments that democratise access to high-value assets.”India And Its REITs And InvITsIndia currently has five listed REITs and 24 InvITs across sectors, including roads, renewable energy, power transmission, telecom, warehousing and commercial real estate. As of October 2025, the combined assets under management (AUM) of REITs, InvITs and SM REITs stand at roughly Rs 9.25 trillion, a figure Pandey said leaves “significant room to grow in depth, scale and diversification”. He added that these structures “democratise access to high-value assets and deliver real cash returns to unitholders”. However, Pandey said retail participation remains worryingly low, with awareness around 10 per cent and penetration below 1 per cent. “This must change,” he said, noting that measures such as reduced minimum investment thresholds, REIT reclassification as equity, and inclusion in indices are expected to drive liquidity and visibility. He said Sebi is also working with regulators, including IRDAI, PFRDA and EPFO to increase institutional investment, and collaborating with the Ministry of Finance and state governments to accelerate asset monetisation. He welcomed recent state-driven initiatives, including the Maharashtra Government’s plan to establish a state-level InvIT and NHAI’s decision to launch a public InvIT for retail investors. Index inclusion of REITs and InvITs and broader access through mutual funds were highlighted as critical enablers to expand the investor base. The Conclave also included a review of sector data and investor sentiment. Alok Aggarwal, Chairperson of the Indian REITs Association, said the REIT ecosystem in India has rapidly transitioned from concept to scale. He said the platform now covers more than 176 million square feet of Grade-A real estate and includes over 3.3 lakh unitholders, calling REITs “engines of urban development, job creation and capital formation”. N.S. Venkatesh, CEO of the Bharat InvITs Association, said that InvITs have evolved into “one of the most dynamic instruments driving India’s infrastructure financing landscape”. He forecast that the industry’s AUM will expand three-fold from the current Rs 7 lakh crore to Rs 21 lakh crore by 2030. He said enabling policies and convergence of public and private capital are set to accelerate growth and help democratise retail participation.

Healthcare Data: The New Oil Or Tomorrow’s Asbestos?

Medical data's immense value is matched only by its potential for catastrophic harm. In Asia's burgeoning digital health sector, a quiet revolution is unfolding. Every telemedicine consultation, digital prescription, and health monitoring app generates streams of deeply personal medical data. This information holds unprecedented promise for advancing healthcare and developing life-saving treatments. Yet beneath this digital transformation lies a troubling question: are we building the foundation for revolutionary healthcare advances, or creating tomorrow's privacy catastrophe? The comparison to oil isn't hyperbolic. Health data possesses many characteristics that made petroleum the most valuable commodity of the industrial age. It's incredibly valuable when processed, becomes more powerful when aggregated at scale, and can fuel entire industries. The global health analytics market is projected to reach USD 84 billion by 2027. Across Asia, where digital health markets are experiencing double-digit growth, this data represents a potential goldmine for innovation and economic growth. The transformative potential is already being realised. AI systems trained on vast medical datasets can diagnose certain cancers more accurately than human radiologists. Predictive algorithms identify patients at risk of heart attacks days before symptoms appear. Drug discovery processes that once took decades are being compressed into years. For countries across Asia grappling with healthcare challenges, ageing populations, and varying medical infrastructure, data-driven solutions offer hope for leapfrogging traditional delivery models. The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated Asia's embrace of digital health solutions. From Singapore's national digital health initiatives to South Korea's contact tracing systems, Asian countries demonstrated both the potential and risks of large-scale health data collection. Platforms processing millions of consultations monthly have created unprecedented repositories that could revolutionise our understanding of disease patterns and inform public health policy. But here's where the asbestos analogy becomes relevant. Like the miracle building material that promised strength before its devastating consequences became apparent, healthcare data's benefits may come with hidden costs that only become clear in retrospect. Medical information is perhaps the most sensitive personal data imaginable, encompassing genetic predispositions, mental health histories, reproductive choices, and lifestyle behaviours that people prefer to keep private even from family members. The risks are already materialising. Health data breaches have exposed millions of patient records globally, revealing psychiatric treatments, fertility struggles, and substance abuse histories. Unlike financial data, which can be changed after a breach, medical information is permanent. A leaked mental health diagnosis or genetic predisposition cannot be undone, and consequences can persist for decades through insurance discrimination, employment decisions, and social stigma. Asian healthcare startups and established players are accumulating vast troves of this sensitive information, often with insufficient safeguards. Many health apps request broad permissions to access medical records, location data, and camera access, creating surveillance opportunities that extend far beyond healthcare needs. Consent processes are frequently inadequate, with patients clicking through lengthy terms without understanding how their health information will be used or shared. The economic incentives create additional concerns. While oil companies extract petroleum from the ground, health tech companies extract value from human vulnerability. Patients seeking healthcare often have little choice but to share their most private information, creating an inherently coercive dynamic. Health information is generated during moments of vulnerability when patients focus on treatment rather than privacy implications. The regulatory landscape across Asia is struggling to keep pace. While some countries have implemented comprehensive frameworks, others operate with outdated regulations. The patchwork of regulatory approaches creates complexity and potential gaps. International experiences offer sobering lessons: genetic testing companies have shared DNA information with law enforcement without consent, health insurers have used wearable device data to adjust premiums, and employers have accessed employee health information for hiring decisions. The concentration of health data in a few large platforms creates systemic risks. When a single company processes millions of health records across multiple Asian markets, a security breach can affect enormous populations spanning different jurisdictions. Health data represents a strategic asset that could be leveraged for economic or political purposes in regions with diverse political systems and varying digital sovereignty. Yet abandoning the digital health revolution isn't realistic. The potential benefits for improving outcomes, reducing costs, and expanding access are too significant. The challenge lies in developing frameworks that capture health data while minimising misuse risks. Promising approaches are emerging: federated learning allows AI training without centralising information, differential privacy adds mathematical noise that preserves utility while protecting privacy, and blockchain systems could give patients greater control. Asian healthcare companies have an opportunity to lead globally in developing privacy-preserving technologies. By building privacy protection from the ground up, they could create competitive advantages in markets increasingly concerned about data governance. Japan and Singapore are already positioning themselves as leaders in privacy-preserving health innovation. Healthcare data represents one of the defining challenges of the digital age. Like oil, it has the potential to fuel innovation and growth. Like asbestos, it carries risks that could harm millions if not properly managed. The decisions we make today will determine whether future generations thank us for revolutionising healthcare or condemn us for creating new forms of digital harm. The answer isn't predetermined: it depends on the choices we make right now about privacy, consent, and corporate responsibility. Airlines get relief as FAA reduces schedule cuts at 40 airports

WASHINGTON, D.C.: The Federal Aviation Administration on November 15 cut in half the number of flights U.S. airlines must remove from their schedules at 40 airports, as the aviation system begins to recover from the air traffic controller shortage caused by the record government shutdown. Starting at 6 a.m. on November 15, airlines were required to cancel only three percent of flights instead of six percent, the agency said. The FAA first ordered reductions on November 7 due to safety concerns, as controller absences increased at air traffic centers and airport towers. Controllers were among the federal workers required to stay on the job without pay during the shutdown. Cancellations peaked on November 9, with nearly 3,000 flights — about 10 percent of those scheduled — scrapped due to the FAA order, persistent staffing shortages, and bad weather. But numbers began to improve as more controllers returned to work and congressional negotiators signaled progress on a shutdown deal, leading the FAA to hold off on further cuts. The FAA and the Department of Transportation said staffing has strengthened since the 43-day shutdown ended late on November 12. They will continue monitoring conditions through the weekend before deciding when full operations can resume. Airlines appeared to be expecting the easing of restrictions. Even before the FAA issued its updated guidance, only two percent of U.S. departures were canceled on November 14, Cirium data showed. By that evening, FlightAware listed just 160 cancellations for the following day. The unprecedented FAA order initially required four percent cuts, later increased to six percent, leading to more than 11,800 cancellations between November 7 and 14. Officials had initially contemplated reductions of up to 10 percent. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has said safety improvements are essential before the mandate can be lifted completely. While he has not released specific safety data, Duffy pointed to reports during the shutdown of planes flying too close together, of more runway incursions, and of pilot concerns about controller performance. How quickly the system will fully stabilize is unclear. The restrictions have disrupted airline operations, leaving many aircraft out of position. Airlines for America, the industry's leading trade group, warned that ripple effects could continue for days. Some analysts have predicted longer delays, but airline leaders remain optimistic. Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian told "CBS Mornings" that operations could bounce back "a lot faster than people think," adding that the industry expects a firm and smooth Thanksgiving travel period. The nationwide controller shortage predates the shutdown, but the prolonged stoppage highlighted the issue and may have worsened it. Duffy said 15 to 20 controllers were retiring each day by the end of the shutdown, and some younger controllers had decided to leave the profession.

What should I do when I noticed that My PAN misused by someone for doing business and then froude with government and me

What is the best % of SWP one can think of from Portfolio value. I am retired now and have say 1 Cr as MF and Share portfolio. I want to go for 40000 SWP per month thereby making 4.8% as SWP. If this is good to have this for 15 yrs Ans: Your question shows great care for your financial future. Many retirees ignore this step. You have already taken a wise move. You want steady income. You want safety. You want long life for your money. These are very important points. I truly appreciate your clarity. » Understanding your present plan Your idea is simple. You have Rs 1 crore. You want Rs 40000 each month. This means Rs 4.8 lakh each year. That is 4.8 percent of your money. This is not very high. This is not very low. It sits in the middle range. Many retirees try for 7 or 8 percent. That can put pressure on the portfolio. Your 4.8 percent is more reasonable. It supports discipline. It keeps stress low. Your idea is for 15 years. That is a good time frame. It gives space for your funds to grow. It gives time for market cycles. It also gives time for inflation adjustments. » Why withdrawal rate matters Your SWP rate decides how long your money will last. A high rate can drain funds soon. A very low rate may not support your monthly needs. Your 4.8 percent sits well. It balances life needs and portfolio health. When you draw money from a mixed portfolio, the growth side helps refill your withdrawn money. The stability side helps reduce fall during bad years. This mix helps the SWP stay steady. » Why a proper structure is important A SWP is not only a monthly withdrawal. It is a full system. The system needs planning. It needs regular reviews. It needs a clear asset split. It needs a cushion for weak market years. If you set this structure well now, your SWP can stay safe. Your money can stretch for many years. You can keep peace of mind. » The importance of a balanced mix Your portfolio may hold equity funds, hybrid funds, and debt funds. A clear mix reduces risk. It gives smooth cash flow. Equity gives growth. Debt gives steady flow. Hybrid gives balance. Because you want monthly income for 15 years, you need a balance that supports steady SWP. A pure equity plan can shake too much. A pure debt plan may not grow at a good pace. A balanced mix is ideal. » Equity funds need careful use Some investors put large money in equity for SWP. This can work in strong markets. This can fail in weak markets. Your SWP must survive both market moods. That is why pure equity for SWP is not safe. Also, you should prefer actively managed funds over index funds for long SWP. Index funds follow the index blindly. They do not manage risk actively. They cannot adjust to market cycles. Actively managed funds have a professional fund manager. A skilled manager helps in limiting risk in low years. This helps protect principal in SWP years. This support is not present in index funds. » Debt funds form the stabiliser Debt funds bring peace to the portfolio. They help during bad market years. They help the SWP stay steady. Because debt funds follow market rates, they work as the anchor. For SWP, this anchor is very helpful. If you use direct debt funds, you must remember that direct funds need more tracking. They need active reviews by you. Many retired investors find this hard. Regular plans taken through a qualified Mutual Fund Distributor with CFP skill provide guidance. Regular plans also give handholding. This handholding helps avoid wrong exits. » How to view your Rs 40000 monthly need You may need some money for basic needs. You may need some money for health care. You may need some money for family support. You may need some money for personal comfort. Rs 40000 per month seems a balanced number. It does not put too much pressure on the money. It is not a very heavy load. It fits well with a Rs 1 crore fund. » Inflation needs attention Inflation will rise. Costs will rise. Your need will rise. Your SWP should rise slowly over time. You cannot fix your SWP for 15 years at one number. That may reduce your buying power. A small rise every two or three years will help you beat inflation. This rise must be slow. It must match your portfolio growth. » Risk of sharp market falls Sharp falls can disturb SWP. A sudden big drop in equity value can pull down your portfolio. This may cause you to withdraw when market is low. That is not good. To fix this, you need enough stability in your mix. A proper allocation in debt funds and hybrid funds can reduce this issue. You will get smoother cash flow. You will not have to worry about market news every day. » Role of emergency money Please keep an emergency amount. Keep this aside. Do not include it in your SWP plan. You may need money for urgent health needs. You may need money for home needs. Emergency funds help you avoid sudden selling. A good emergency fund gives peace. It protects your SWP from sudden shocks. » Tax rules for withdrawals Every SWP withdrawal may include some gains. Tax will apply based on the type of fund and the gain period. This tax can have impact on net flow. You must plan for this in your withdrawal design. Equity fund rules: Gains under one year are short-term. These are taxed at 20 percent. Gains above one year are long-term. Long-term gains above Rs 1.25 lakh are taxed at 12.5 percent. Debt fund rules: Both short-term and long-term gains are taxed as per your tax slab. This tax part should not scare you. A proper plan can reduce the tax burden. A planned SWP can help you manage gains carefully. » Why a Certified Financial Planner helps You may handle small things by yourself. But retirement planning is delicate. One wrong move can disturb the whole plan. A Certified Financial Planner gives a clear road map. He helps you set the best mix. He reviews the plan every year. He adjusts the plan for market and life events. This guidance is very useful in SWP because SWP needs discipline. » Why not consider real estate Some retirees think of using real estate for income. But real estate needs heavy work. It needs tenant work. It needs repair work. It needs legal care. It gives lumpy income. It gives no steady flow. So it is not fit for SWP planning. Your present goal is steady income. Real estate will not give this. » Why not consider annuities Annuities give fixed income. But they lock your money. They give low returns. They do not beat inflation well. They reduce flexibility. For these reasons, they are not ideal for your long-term income. Your idea of SWP with balanced mix is better. » Keeping your portfolio healthy for 15 years To keep your portfolio safe for 15 years, you must follow some habits: Review every year with a Certified Financial Planner. Adjust asset mix if needed. Increase SWP amount slowly. Reduce SWP for one or two years if markets fall very deep. Protect your money from emotional moves. Keep a two-year buffer in a low-risk fund. Keep your growth part running for long. These habits help your money last for the full 15-year horizon. » Regular review helps you adapt Markets will change. Your health may change. Your needs may change. A yearly review will help align your plan. It will help spot issues early. It will help guide the next year’s SWP. Without reviews, even good plans can fail. » Why a two-year cushion helps A cushion fund is a simple idea. Keep two years of SWP in a low-risk debt fund. This money helps you draw income even in bad market years. You will not need to sell equity in weak phases. This protects your overall money. This makes your SWP more stable. This cushion fund is an extra shield. It supports your 15-year income plan. » Role of diversification Your SWP works best when your portfolio is spread well. A spread can include: Actively managed equity funds. Hybrid funds. Debt funds. This spread reduces risk. It gives smoothness. It supports long-term income. Avoid using too many funds. Keep it simple. A small number of quality funds is better. » How your 4.8 percent looks in practice A 4.8 percent withdrawal rate is comfortable for a 15-year horizon. If you follow discipline, your money will not face heavy pressure. If your portfolio grows at a steady pace, your principal will not erode fast. Even if growth shifts between years, the mixed structure will protect you. Your plan is workable. It is sensible. It is future-friendly. » Mistakes to avoid Here are some mistakes you should avoid: Do not chase high-return funds. Do not raise SWP sharply in one year. Do not keep too much money in equity. Do not stop reviews. Do not shift funds often without reason. Do not look at direct plans if you prefer guidance. These mistakes can disturb your portfolio health. Your SWP may suffer. » Why not use direct funds if you need support Direct plans give lower cost. But they give no guidance. Retired investors often need guidance. They need reviews. They need discipline. A regular plan through a qualified Mutual Fund Distributor with CFP skill gives support. It prevents panic reactions. This support is valuable in low market years. » Healthy mindset for SWP Try to see your SWP as a long journey. It needs calm mind. It needs steady steps. It needs slow corrections. It needs patience. If you stay steady, your SWP will stay healthy. You will enjoy peace. » Practical steps you can start now You may start with these steps: Set clear needs for each year. Fix a proper asset split. Create a cushion fund for two years. Start SWP from a low-risk fund or hybrid fund. Keep equity for growth. Add small hikes in SWP every few years. This system supports long-term income. » How your plan supports a joyful retired life Your plan helps you live with comfort. It gives predictable cash flow. It gives you freedom from worry. It gives you clarity. You can focus on health, family, and peace. You do not need to watch markets each day. Your retirement life becomes balanced. » Final Insights Your idea of taking Rs 40000 per month from a Rs 1 crore portfolio at 4.8 percent is workable. It fits well for a 15-year horizon. It supports your income. It protects your money if you set a balanced mix. You must follow steady reviews. You must keep a small cushion. You must avoid risky moves. With these practices, your SWP plan can stay healthy for many years. Your future can stay peaceful and steady. You have already taken the right first step. Your clarity gives your plan strong power.
