Rybakina downs Swiatek to enter semis, Anisimova beats Keys in WTA Finals

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia :Elena Rybakina qualified for the WTA Finals' last four, beating an error-prone Iga Swiatek 3-6 6-1 6-0 on Monday, while Amanda Anisimova beat fellow American Madison Keys 4-6 6-3 6-2 in Riyadh. World number two Swiatek made 36 unforced errors in the last two sets while Rybakina made 17, with the Kazakh player getting her first win over the six-time Grand Slam champion in their last five meetings. Rybakina, who beat Anisimova on Saturday, reached the semi-finals after her second straight win. "It was difficult to be down, but in the second set I pushed myself, the serve improved. Really happy that I stepped in and played better in each point," said Rybakina. Swiatek made a dominant start to win the first three games as she targeted Rybakina's body with her serves, while the sixth seed's backhand returns often hit the net. Swiatek looked in control as she took the first set 6-3. However, the Pole's double fault and an unforced error gave an early break to Rybakina, who then held her serve with an ace to go 3-0 up in the second set. Wimbledon champion Swiatek was left frustrated when she made three successive unforced errors as Rybakina broke again to go 5-1 up, sealing the set in her favour. Swiatek continued to struggle, making 17 more unforced errors as Rybakina handed her a bagel in the third set. ANISIMOVA BEATS KEYS Australian Open champion Keys made 12 double faults, four times more than her opponent as Anisimova bounced back from a first-set stumble to get her first win in the WTA Finals. Anisimova was the first to hold her serve after the match started with four straight breaks, but the 24-year-old conceded another break as Keys took a 5-4 lead. World number seven Keys won the first set with forceful serves and built a 2-0 lead in the second, but her struggles with double faults and unforced errors allowed Anisimova to get a break back and make it 3-3. Fourth seed Anisimova broke again, fooling Keys with her well-timed forehand, and won five straight games to take the second set. Keys looked exhausted as Anisimova, growing in confidence and finding success with cross-court shots, took just 34 minutes to win the third set. "It was quite a battle out there. Just really happy with the way I was able to turn around in the second set and turn that frown upside down," said Anisimova, who was the runner-up in Wimbledon and the U.S. Open this year. Rybakina will face Keys in her last round-robin match, while Swiatek, who beat Keys on Saturday, takes on Anisimova. In the other group, top seed Aryna Sabalenka, who beat Jasmine Paolini in her first match, plays Jessica Pegula on Tuesday. Pegula will also be seeking a second successive round robin win following her victory over Coco Gauff on Sunday.

HtmlSanitizer+SanitizeResult NITI Aayog Unveils “Reimagining Agriculture: A Roadmap for Frontier Technology Led Transformation” 03 NOV 2025 4:01PM by PIB Delhi NITI Aayog’s Frontier Tech Hub unveiled a groundbreaking roadmap titled “Reimagining Agriculture: A Roadmap for Frontier Technology Led Transformation” in Gandhinagar, Gujarat today. The launch event was graced by Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel; Shri Rameshbhai Bhurabhai Katara, Minister of State, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Cooperation, Animal Husbandry and Cow Breeding, Government of Gujarat; Shri Jitubhai Vaghani, Minister of Agriculture/Farmers Welfare/Cooperation/Animal Husbandry/Cow Breeding/Fisheries, Government of Gujarat; Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO, NITI Aayog; Dr. Hasmukh Adhia, Principal Advisor to CM, Gujarat; Dr. Anju Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat; Dr. Neelam Patel, Programme Director, NITI Aayog; Ms Debjani Ghosh, Distinguished Fellow, NITI Aayog; distinguished representatives from industry, academia, and innovation ecosystems; and other eminent dignitaries. The roadmap outlines a strategic vision to harness frontier technologies, including climate resilient seeds, digital twins, precision agriculture, agentic AI, and advanced mechanisation to enhance productivity, sustainability, and incomes across India’s diverse agricultural landscape. By segmenting farmers into three primary archetypes, i.e. Aspiring, Transitioning, and Advanced, the roadmap offers tailored, actionable solutions sensitive to the varied challenges faced by smallholders to commercial cultivators. The roadmap highlights that with the right interventions, India can unlock new levels of agricultural resilience, inclusive rural prosperity, and global competitiveness in agri-tech innovation, contributing meaningfully towards the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, said, “Gujarat is uniquely positioned to lead India’s agricultural transformation. Through initiatives such as the Digital Crop Survey, Digital Agri Farm Registry, and the i-Khedut portal, we are building a seamless ecosystem that integrates technology across every stage of farming. These innovations are helping our farmers combat crop diseases, enhance productivity, and adopt next-generation seeds and tools that lower the cost of cultivation. Digital integration is not just about improving efficiency; it is empowering our farmers. Farmer sashaktikaran is essential for realising the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. By harnessing AI, data, and precision technologies, we can ensure that every acre becomes more productive, every drop of water more valuable, and every farmer more prosperous." Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO, NITI Aayog, emphasised, “No two farmers in India are the same, and technology must reflect that diversity. The real impact of frontier technologies will come from how well we customize solutions—whether for a smallholder or a commercial cultivator; a farmer growing staples or a horticulturist. This roadmap rightly emphasizes differentiated strategies for aspiring, transitioning, and advanced farmers. If we design with empathy and deploy with precision, technology can truly transform livelihoods, making agriculture more resilient, inclusive, and future-ready.” Ms. Debjani Ghosh, Distinguished Fellow, NITI Aayog, added, “Agriculture stands on the brink of a profound technological renaissance. For decades, progress was measured in hectares and yields; the next revolution will be measured in data, intelligence, and design. This is the new frontier—where speed, scale, and smart integration will define success. The question is no longer whether we transform, but how fast we can make every farmer a co-creator of this new future” Developed in collaboration with knowledge partners – BCG, Google and CII -under the guidance of experts from industry & academia, the roadmap launch witnessed enthusiastic participation from stakeholders committed to shaping India’s agricultural future. HtmlSanitizer+SanitizeResult Ministry of Development of North-East Region Jyotiraditya Scindia confers Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika National Awards celebrating cultural harmony in Bhupen Da’s centenary year A versatile range of cultural custodians from the Northeast conferred with the honour Union Minister Scindia later addresses Nanhi Chhaan National Essay Contest, urging youth to shape a compassionate and inclusive India 03 NOV 2025 5:13PM by PIB Delhi Union Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, today conferred the Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika National Awards at a ceremony in Guwahati organised by Sarhad Pune, and later addressed the Nanhi Chhaan 12th National Essay Contest. Both events celebrated India’s cultural diversity, the Northeast’s heritage, and the pivotal role of women and youth in nation building. Speaking at the award ceremony, Scindia paid tribute to Bhupen Hazarika as a poet, musician, and voice of the nation whose work wove together art and unity. He said that conferring awards in Bhupen Da’s name honours not just an artist but an era of empathy and cultural synthesis. Six eminent personalities from the region were felicitated for their contributions to literature, music, film, scholarship, and cultural preservation — Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi (Arunachal Pradesh), Laishram Mema (Manipur), Rajni Basumatary (Assam), L. R. Sailo (Mizoram), Dr. Surjya Kanta Hazarika (Assam), and Prof. David R. Syiemlieh (Meghalaya). Recalling his deep personal connection with the Northeast, Scindia reflected on how his association with the region and Bhupen Da’s legacy is rooted as much in emotion as in history. He described Bhupen Da as a bridge between “my janmabhoomi Mumbai and his karmabhoomi Assam,” whose melodies continue to breathe across India’s cultural landscape. The Minister spoke of his family’s long-standing bond with the region — a relationship etched in compassion. After the devastating 1950 earthquake that shook Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, his grandfather, Maharaja Jivajirao Scindia, had established the Assam Relief Fund, extending timely aid and solidarity to the people. He noted how the same deluge that erased Sadiya, Bhupen Da’s birthplace, also gave rise to his immortal songs that turned pain into poetry and loss into light. “The resilience of Bhupen Da’s music reminds us that even in sorrow, there is song; that the human spirit, like the Brahmaputra, always finds its course again,” Scindia remarked. He also highlighted the Bhupen Hazarika Setu as a living testament to Bhupen Da’s vision of connection and progress. Scindia commended Sarhad Pune and its founder Sanjay Nahar for decades of work in promoting national integration, nurturing students from conflict-affected regions, establishing cultural platforms such as Sarhad Music and the Bhupen Hazarika Music Studio, and running a girls’ hostel for students from the Northeast, all rooted in empathy and harmony. Later, the Minister addressed the Nanhi Chhaan National Essay Contest, which saw participation from over 50,000 students across India. He interacted with the winners, commending their clarity of thought and patriotic spirit. He praised the Nanhi Chhaan Foundation for its work in women’s empowerment, environmental protection, and interfaith harmony. Reflecting on the theme “The Force of Viksit Bharat,” Scindia said the essays were a reminder that India’s future rests on the confidence, compassion, and curiosity of its youth. Reiterating that the true strength of a Viksit Bharat will emerge when daughters see themselves not as bystanders but as architects of change, Scindia drew inspiration from Assam’s freedom heroine Kanaklata Barua, noting that courage and conviction know no age or gender. He underscored that India’s march towards Viksit Bharat will gain unstoppable momentum when women’s empathy, resilience, and leadership combine with youthful innovation and energy. Transformed Cleanliness Target Units Powering Swachh Cities

HtmlSanitizer+SanitizeResult Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs Transformed Cleanliness Target Units Powering Swachh Cities 03 NOV 2025 5:11PM by PIB Delhi The Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban has reshaped cities and inspired a jan andolan for swachhata, turning cleanliness into a shared civic duty. Campaigns like Swachhata Hi Seva and initiatives such as Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) have united communities to transform neglected dumping grounds into clean, vibrant, usable public spaces. Under SBM-U 2.0, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across India are focussing on visible cleanliness, transforming neglected, dark, dirty and waste-laden areas through the Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) initiative. Success stories from Alappuzha, Kerala, and Metpally, Telangana, show how coordinated action and citizen participation are creating cleaner, more liveable communities. The Alappuzha Municipality in Kerala has set a noteworthy example of urban transformation through the aesthetic conversion of a 15-cent fallow land located in front of the Municipality Office Complex - Sathabdi Mandiram. The plot, owned by the Water Authority, had long remained unused and overgrown with weeds, with a large water tank in a deteriorated condition marked by faded paint and neglect. As part of the Municipality’s cleanliness and beautification initiative, approximately 5.4 tons of waste were removed from the site, and the water tank was artistically repainted with vibrant messages on swachhata, turning it into an attractive public landmark. The surrounding 10 cents of land were developed into a blooming garden cultivated mainly with yellow and orange Chrysanthemum (marigold) flowers, enhancing the visual appeal of the area. The flowers harvested from the garden were used for the traditional Pookkalam (floral carpet) during Kerala’s Onam festival, adding cultural significance to the initiative. All cleaning, refurbishing, and maintenance activities were undertaken by the dedicated sanitation workers, who continue to preserve the site’s beauty. This once-neglected space now stands as a symbol of Alappuzha’s commitment to sustainable waste management, civic pride, and urban beautification. Metpally Municipality in Telangana undertook the rejuvenation of the Koneru at Chenna Keshavanatha Swamy Temple, located near the municipal office in Metpally town, during the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. The sacred pond was heavily silted and filled with plastic waste and debris, diminishing its aesthetic and spiritual significance. In response, the Municipality launched a targeted cleanliness and restoration drive within the temple premises. During the initiative, approximately 4 tons of waste and debris were removed from the pond and its surroundings. The activity witnessed active participation from around 80 individuals, including municipal staff, SHG women, local youth, and members of the temple committee. The drive involved desilting of the pond, cleaning of the temple surroundings, and removal of accumulated garbage, leading to the complete restoration of the Koneru. The rejuvenated pond now holds clear water, reinstating the site’s environmental and spiritual sanctity. The temple area has been transformed into a clean, serene space for devotees, while also fostering a strong sense of community ownership and collective responsibility. This initiative exemplifies Metpally Municipality’s commitment to Swachhata, heritage conservation, and citizen participation, aligning closely with the goals of Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban 2.0. Macherla Municipality undertook a large-scale cleanliness and beautification drive during the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign. The initiative focused on transforming the CTU site at Yadavula bazar near a water tank that had become a dumping ground for animal waste. Over 1,500 volunteers, including students, youth, Women SHGs, citizens, and sanitation workers, participated in the drive, collecting nearly 150 metric tonnes of garbage which was transported to the Waste-to-Compost Plant at Macherla. After the cleanup, low-lying road portions were filled and levelled, while SHG members beautified the area with colourful rangolis and decorative borders, turning it into a vibrant public space. 150 saplings were planted. The public water tank and nearby walls were cleaned, repainted, and adorned with awareness messages promoting swachhata. Jamshedpur Municipal Corporation organized a special pond cleaning drive at Kailash Sarovar, located in Ward No. 02, Sonari, with the active participation of local residents. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic involvement from citizens, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), youth volunteers, and Safai Mitras, who came together to restore the beauty and ecological balance of the water body. During the drive, over 2 tonnes of waste—including plastic, silt, and debris—were removed from the pond, significantly enhancing its cleanliness and aesthetic appeal. The initiative not only rejuvenated Kailash Sarovar but also inspired the community to take sustained ownership of their local environment and public spaces. The transformation stories of these cities highlight how the Swachh Bharat Mission has evolved beyond a cleanliness campaign into a citizen-led movement for sustainable urban renewal. This milestone honours our glorious past while inspiring a new generation to carry the legacy forward. Indian hockey has always represented the spirit of resilience, unity, and excellence. As we celebrate this centenary, our focus is on strengthening the game from the grassroots, empowering both men and women equally, and preparing our teams to reach the pinnacle of world hockey once again. I extend heartfelt gratitude to all those who have stood by Indian hockey over the years — our players, coaches, fans, and partners. Together, we will make the next century even more golden.” A large-scale photo exhibition at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium will take visitors through a visual journey of 100 glorious years, displaying rare archival photographs, memorabilia, and Olympic moments—from the 1928 Amsterdam Games to the present resurgence. To mark the occasion at the grassroots level, over 1,400 hockey matches will be played simultaneously across 550 districts nationwide, involving more than 36,000 players. Each district will host one men’s and one women’s match, symbolising equality and inclusion. The initiative aims to create a festive atmosphere across the country, uniting rural and urban India in celebration of the national sport. Hockey India Secretary General Shri Bhola Nath Singh added, “As we mark this historic milestone, it gives me great pride to see how Hockey India has evolved into a transparent, accountable, and forward-looking organisation. Our focus has been on strengthening systems — from performance-based funding and grassroots development to the successful launch of professional leagues for both men and women. We are also investing in coaching, analytics, and infrastructure to ensure sustainable growth. I would like to express sincere gratitude to the Sports Authority of India, whose consistent support has been vital in developing world-class facilities and nurturing young talent. This centenary is not just a celebration of history, but a reaffirmation of our commitment to building a stronger future for Indian hockey.” The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Hockey India remain committed to preserving and promoting India’s hockey heritage while paving the way for a new era of excellence and inclusivity in the sport. Dr. Mandaviya will participate in the Opening Plenary Meeting of the Summit, delivering India’s National Statement and joining world leaders in adopting the Doha Political Declaration. He will also address the High-Level Round Table on “Strengthening the Three Pillars of Social Development: Poverty Eradication, Full and Productive Employment and Decent Work for All, and Social Inclusion”, sharing India’s transformative journey toward inclusive and digitally enabled growth that prioritises decent work and social protection. As India takes the global stage at the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, it does so as a nation that has achieved a remarkable milestone in poverty reduction. Between 2011 and 2023, 248 million Indians were lifted out of multidimensional poverty, reducing the share of people living below the international poverty line to just 2.3% in 2022-23. These gains are driven by flagship programmes such as Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, and the Jan Dhan financial inclusion initiative. Equally notable is India’s rapid expansion of its social protection system, now among the largest in the world. Verified by the International Labour Organization (ILO), India’s social security coverage has surged from 19% in 2015 to 64.3% in 2025, benefitting over 940 million citizens. This has been made possible through the JAM Trinity (Jan Dhan–Aadhaar–Mobile) architecture, ensuring efficient, transparent, and direct benefit delivery to millions of households. A key highlight of India’s engagement will be a side event hosted by NITI Aayog on “Pathways Out of Poverty: India’s Experience in Empowering the Last Mile”, scheduled for 5 November 2025. The session will showcase India’s achievements in poverty reduction, women’s economic empowerment through Self-Help Groups and cooperatives, and the expansion of social security for all. The event will feature interventions from international partners, including Brazil, Maldives, and the ILO, underscoring India’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its guiding principle of ensuring that no one is left behind. Dr. Mandaviya is also scheduled to participate in the ILO-sponsored Ministerial Event on the Global Coalition for Social Justice, where he will reiterate India’s role as a champion of equitable growth and decent work. On the sidelines of the Summit, the Union Minister will hold a series of bilateral meetings with Ministers from Qatar, Romania, Mauritius, and the European Union, as well as with the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and senior UN officials. These interactions are expected to deepen collaboration on labour mobility, skilling, social protection, and employment generation. The Minister will further attend an event on the National Career Service (NCS) Portal, jointly organised by the Ministry of Labour & Employment and the Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC). The NCS platform has emerged as a vital bridge between job seekers and employers, promoting transparent and inclusive labour market access. Additionally, a visit to Qatar’s Aspire Zone Complex and a site visit to key sports infrastructure facilities are planned as part of the exchange of best practices in sports management and youth engagement. The World Summit for Social Development marks a significant milestone in the global effort to advance the objectives of the 1995 Copenhagen Summit — namely, poverty eradication, full and productive employment, and social inclusion. The Doha Summit provides a renewed platform for countries to reaffirm their commitment to these shared goals, exchange experiences, and strengthen international cooperation for inclusive and sustainable social progress. Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya’s visit underscores India’s strong commitment to global cooperation for social justice and inclusive growth. Guided by the vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047”, India continues to demonstrate how digital innovation, financial inclusion, and community participation can together create pathways out of poverty and empower every citizen to lead a life of dignity. NMDC Celebrates Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 Fostering Integrity as a Shared Responsibility

HtmlSanitizer+SanitizeResult Ministry of Steel NMDC Celebrates Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 Fostering Integrity as a Shared Responsibility 03 NOV 2025 4:53PM by PIB Delhi NMDC, India’s largest iron ore producer, marked the successful conclusion of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 with a vibrant valedictory ceremony at its corporate office in Hyderabad. This year’s theme, “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility,” resonated throughout the week-long observance, inspiring collective commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical excellence. The VAW commenced on 27th October 2025, featured a series of engaging activities, starting from integrity pledge to essay and elocution contests to digital awareness drives across NMDC’s projects and offices. In alignment with the VAW theme, NMDC launched a three-month-long awareness campaign that began on August 18, 2025, and will continue until November 17, 2025. As part of this initiative, various sessions including capacity-building programs are being conducted by currently working and retired personnels from Government of India to enhance understanding of ethical practices and vigilance mechanisms. A key component introduced this year under the campaign is the iGOT module, through which NMDC officers are receiving online training on various aspects of vigilance administration. To extend the message of integrity beyond the organization, NMDC also organized Gram Sabhas at its project sites, engaging host communities and stakeholders. The valedictory ceremony on 1st November, 2025 featured a keynote address by Major General Ajay Misra, General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Sub Area, who emphasized the vital role of personal integrity in shaping organizational culture. He said, “Integrity is not a mere virtue we display when someone is watching, it is the essence of our character, reflected in every decision we take. Vigilance begins with self-awareness and extends into our collective consciousness as an organization. Each one of us must own the responsibility of being alert, transparent, and fair in our conduct. True vigilance is not about suspicion; it’s about creating an environment where honesty is instinctive and trust is the foundation.” He added, “When integrity becomes a habit, vigilance becomes effortless. It allows institutions like NMDC to thrive on credibility, discipline, and purpose - ensuring that growth is not just measurable in tons of ore, but in tons of trust.” The event was attended by NMDC’s senior leadership, Shri Vinay Kumar, Director (Technical), Shri Joydeep Dasgupta Director (Production), Smt. Priyadarshini Director (Personnel), and Shri C Neelakanta Reddy, Chief Vigilance Officer, along with NMDC employees. Reflecting on the organization’s journey, Shri Vinay Kumar, Director (Technical) applauded the vigilance team’s proactive role in driving transparency and efficiency and said “The Vigilance Department at NMDC is not just a watchdog, it’s a catalyst for change. We are transitioning into a future where digital interventions, data-driven insights, and preventive vigilance form the backbone of decision-making. As we advance towards our ambitious target, our focus must be on creating frameworks that ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability at every level.” He further added, “When systems are strong, decisions become objective - and that is the truest reflection of integrity. On the occasion, Shri C Neelakanta Reddy, Chief Vigilance Officer, said “Vigilance is not confined to manuals or checklists — it’s a living principle that guides how we think, act, and lead. Through our initiatives, we have reached schools and communities across Hyderabad, Bailadila, Jagdalpur, Nagarnar, Panna, and Donimalai, encouraging thousands of young students to understand that honesty and responsibility are lifelong assets. These interactions remind us that the foundation of a corruption-free society begins with education and awareness. We are committed to building systems that not only detect lapses but also prevent them. Guided by the Central Vigilance Commission’s principles, NMDC continues to create processes that are fair, ethical, and sustainable.” Throughout the week, NMDC employees and stakeholders participated enthusiastically in competitions such as quizzes, drawing, essay and elocution contests, all designed to bring the spirit of vigilance to life. Trump Takes His Vitriol To Next Level After Signing Epstein Bill: Live Updates

President Donald Trump on Thursday suggested that six Democratic lawmakers who urged military service members to stand up to the president by refusing any “illegal orders” from him be executed in a series of unhinged posts on his Truth Social post. “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!” he wrote in one of them. Earlier, Trump claimed he signed a bill forcing the Justice Department to release the files it holds on late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after both chambers of Congress approved the legislation. “As everyone knows, I asked Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, to pass this Bill in the House and Senate, respectively. Because of this request, the votes were almost unanimous in favor of passage,” he wrote. However, Trump and his congressional allies had, for months, sought to block the bill before the president changed his tune over the weekend after it became clear there was enough support for it to clear the House. Besides, Trump could have already ordered the release of the files without an act of Congress. The bill states that the Justice Department will have 30 days to publish all of its Epstein records “in a searchable and downloadable format.” But Attorney General Pam Bondi could still seek to block their release. The Epstein controversy has exposed cracks within the president’s MAGA movement and demonstrated that the president is losing his grip on his party, as polls show voters are souring on his handling of both the Epstein files and the high cost of living. Meanwhile, Trump hosted a black-tie dinner in honor of Mohammed bin Salman after contradicting a CIA assessment that the Saudi crown prince ordered the murder and dismemberment of Jamal Khashoggi. “He knew nothing about it, and we can leave it at that,” Trump said. Odd Lots: San Francisco's New Mayor on Homelessness, Unaffordability, and AI - Bloomberg

Odd Lots: San Francisco's New Mayor on Homelessness, Unaffordability, and AI New York City is about to elect a new mayor, and whoever it is will have to address growing challenges like unaffordability, homelessness, and other basic quality-of-life challenges. Very few of these challenges are distinct to NYC. San Francisco, in particular, has also faced this weird tension, where it's incredibly dynamic and wealthy, and also famous for its obvious symptoms of dysfunction. The city is one year into the new Daniel Lurie administration, and many of the quality-of-life statistics have been improving (which is the case in other cities as well). The city is ground zero for the world's AI industry, which is heavily concentrated in SF, rather than the Bay Area writ large. So we spoke with Lurie about his approach to city management, what he's learned in his first year on the job, his vision for improving zoning, and what, if any, advice he'd offer to the next NYC mayor. Somali Civil Aviation Authority warns Flydubai over visa violation

Hiiraan Online Today from Hiiraan Online: Somali Music advertisements Somali Civil Aviation Authority warns Flydubai over visa violation FacebookFacebook messengerTwitterWhatsAppLinkedInTelegramEmail Monday November 3, 2025 Mogadishu (HOL) — The Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has warned the airline Flydubai to fully comply with Somalia’s visa requirements after it was discovered that a passenger flown to Hargeisa did not have the required electronic visa (e-Visa). According to an official letter signed by SCAA Director General Ahmed Moallim Hassan on Sunday, the authority said the incident violated Somalia’s immigration and aviation regulations and posed a potential threat to border and national security. “The passenger brought by Flydubai to Hargeisa was found not to have the required Somali visa prior to travel, which is in direct violation of the country’s regulations,” the statement read. The SCAA ordered the airline to immediately implement strict verification procedures to ensure all passengers traveling to Somalia, particularly to Hargeisa, obtain a valid Somali e-Visa before departure. The agency warned that failure to comply could result in legal action, including financial penalties, suspension of Flydubai’s flights to Hargeisa, or a review of the airline’s operating permit within Somali The authority emphasized that adherence to immigration laws is not only a legal requirement but also a demonstration of mutual respect for national sovereignty and international aviation standards. In response, Somaliland’s Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airports Development issued a new order requiring all civil aircraft — scheduled, non-scheduled, and commercial — to apply for an overflight permit before entering, transiting, or flying over Somaliland’s airspace. The directive, set to take effect on November 10, 2025, was announced to “reflect Somaliland’s full sovereignty over its land, airspace, and seas,” according to the ministry’s statement. The e-Visa enforcement marks the latest flashpoint in the long-running sovereignty dispute between Mogadishu and Hargeisa, complicating travel, diplomacy, and regional cooperation. Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 but has not gained international recognition. Despite multiple rounds of talks since 2012 — held in London, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Djibouti — no political settlement has been reached. Somali Sports Ministry suspends Olympic Committee leaders over misconduct allegations

Hiiraan Online Today from Hiiraan Online: Somali Music advertisements Somali Sports Ministry suspends Olympic Committee leaders over misconduct allegations FacebookFacebook messengerTwitterWhatsAppLinkedInTelegramEmail Monday November 3, 2025 Mogadishu (HOL) — The Somali Ministry of Youth and Sports has suspended the President and Secretary-General of the Somali Olympic Committee (SOC), Ahmed Abdi Hassan Wataac and Mohamed Abdow Haaji, over alleged misconduct. In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry said the decision followed preliminary findings from an internal investigation, which indicated that the two officials had engaged in actions contrary to the rules, ethics, and governance principles of the national sports body. According to the ministry, their conduct undermined trust between the ministry and the Olympic Committee’s sub-committees. “This step is intended to strengthen the transparency, accountability, and independence of Somali sports organizations,” said Minister of Youth and Sports Mohamed Abdulqadir Ali. Attempts to reach Chairman Wataac for comment were unsuccessful. However, he later said he would respond to the allegations at an appropriate time. Wataac and Haaji were elected to their respective positions a year ago during the ninth Somali Olympic Committee elections, serving four-year terms. The Somali Olympic Committee elects its leadership, which includes a president, a secretary-general, and vice presidents.
