ISRO targets 7 missions by March 2026, eyes first uncrewed Gaganyaan launch

ISRO has set a target to launch seven missions, including its ambitious first uncrewed mission under the Gangayaan programme, before the end of March 2026, Chairman V Narayanan said on Sunday. The Bengaluru-headquartered space agency has planned to make three uncrewed missions before the crewed mission under the Gaganyaan programme, and the first uncrewed launch 'G1 Mission' is expected to happen by March 2026, he said. "Our Gaganyaan programme is progressing well. It is in advanced stages. All hardware have arrived at Sriharikota and integration (of the hardware) is happening. We have planned three uncrewed mission. The first uncrewed mission, 'G1 Mission', is going to be achieved before the end of the current financial year," he said. Narayanan was speaking to reporters after the successful launch of communication satellite CMS-03 onboard a LVM3-M05 rocket from this spaceport. Seven missions on the launchpad On the future mission programmes, Narayanan, who is also the Secretary, Department of Space, said seven missions have been planned before the end of March 2026. He said this initiative was under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for ISRO to make 50 rocket launches over the next five year period. "We have planned seven launches to take place before the end of this financial year. It is by March 2026," he said. Commercial and tech missions ahead Giving some insights on the planned missions, he said after Sunday's LVM3-M05 launch, ISRO would undertake another LVM3 rocket launch which would carry a 'commercial communication satellite' for a client. "After that, we have got three more PSLV missions. One is for NSIL customer satellite," he said. NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL) is the commercial arm of the ISRO. Narayanan said ISRO has also planned for another technology development mission PSLV-N1 targeted to be launched before the end of the current financial year. "So many developments are taking place. We have also planned for a GSLV-F17 rocket mission before March 2026," he said. Noting that ISRO has drawn up various missions by March 2026, he said, "I know it is not an easy job. It is a tough job. But I know that we will accomplish these activities (in future)." "Team ISRO is geared up to meet the vision of the Prime Minister to launch 50 missions in the next 5 years," he added. Space industry congratulates ISRO Industry bodies on Sunday congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on the launch of CMS-03, the heaviest satellite to lift-off from Indian soil. At 4410 kg, the CMS-03, a replacement satellite for GSAT-7 used by the Indian Navy, was placed in the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) by the LVM-3 rocket on Sunday evening. “The successful launch of the CMS-03 satellite by LVM3 rocket (Bahubali) is a monumental achievement for India, powerfully demonstrating our sovereign capability in launching heavy-payload satellites for strategic applications,” Lt Gen Anil K Bhatt (retd.), Director General Indian Space Association (ISpA) said in a statement here. Subba Rao Pavuluri, Chairman of Ananth Technologies Pvt. Ltd (ATL) and President of the Satcom Industry Association-India, said the successful launch of CMS-3, a multi-band military communication satellite demonstrated ISRO’s capability to deliver advanced communication infrastructure to the nation. Pavuluri said ATL contributed huge number of sub-systems, including power control and management system, power distribution systems, telemetry and tele-command systems for interfacing with ground control centre, payload DC-DC converters, star sensor for navigation purpose to the CMS-03 satellite. “We at ATL are honoured to be a part of this achievement and to contribute to ISRO’s continuing legacy of excellence and innovation. Each success reinforces our collective commitment to advancing India’s space capabilities and self-reliance,” he said. ATL also supplied several critical subsystems, including control electronics modules, navigation and guidance systems, electro-mechanical actuator systems, avionics power supply modules, and several other key components for the LVM-3 rocket. Bhatt said the satellite will be a game changer for our maritime and national security, providing advanced, secure communication channels that are critical in the Indian Ocean Region and mainland. “The launch by ISRO not only strengthens our strategic autonomy but also signals a vibrant future for private industry participation in building and supporting our nation’s space assets, reinforcing our position as a formidable space power,” Bhatt said. Political violence kills almost 300 since Hasina's fall: rights group

Nearly 300 people have been killed in political violence in Bangladesh in the year since student-led protests toppled autocratic former leader Sheikh Hasina, the country's main human rights group said on Sunday (November 2, 2025). A report by Odhikar, a Dhaka-based rights organisation, said at least 281 people had been killed in violence involving political parties from August 2024, when Ms. Hasina's rule ended and she fled to India, to September 2025. On top of those, there were another 40 victims of extrajudicial killings who had been suspected of crimes, while another 153 were lynched, the quarterly report released last week said. Odhikar director ASM Nasiruddin Elan said adherence to human rights had improved since the fall of Ms. Hasina's government but law enforcement agencies were still not being held accountable. "Yes, we don't see the frequent extrajudicial killings or enforced disappearances that we witnessed during the Hasina era, but deaths in custody, bribery, and harassment of victims are still ongoing," Mr. Elan told AFP. He said that "innocent people fall prey to atrocities" for their alleged involvement with the Awami League, Ms. Hasina's political party that is now banned. Ms. Hasina's 15-year rule saw widespread human rights abuses, including the mass detention and extrajudicial killing of her political opponents. The Odhikar report also said many people had fallen victim to extortion by political parties, regardless of their financial or social standing, in the year since Hasina's fall. Those included the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, seen as the frontrunner in elections slated for February 2026, and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, which was credited with starting the protests that toppled Ms. Hasina. Jamaat-e-Islami, Muslim-majority Bangladesh's largest Islamist party, was also included in reports of extortion, the report said. Odhikar also said mob attacks had been relatively frequent during the period, mainly because of inefficient policing. "Police have been used to achieve party interests and were given impunity, which eventually led them to kill and torture activists affiliated with the opposition," the report said. It said "the police largely became dysfunctional and lost their morale", after Ms. Hasina fell. Bangladesh's interim government nor any of the political parties have responded yet to Odhikar's report.

Aaron hails Washington Sundar's "effectiveness" against short balls during Hobart T20I

Hobart [Australia], November 2 (ANI): Former Indian pacer Varun Aaron hailed all-rounder Washington Sundar for his fine knock against Australia in Hobart, lauding his 'effectiveness' against short-pitched deliveries. Sundar's explosive 49* in 23 balls was the highlight of India's successful run-chase of 187 runs during the third T20I against Australia at Hobart to level the series 1-1, with two more matches to go. Speaking during the 'Cricket Live' programme after the match, Aaron said about Sundar's knock, 'Washington has demonstrated his effectiveness with the bat, especially against short-pitched deliveries, as we saw in the previous IPL. His first five boundaries off the fast bowlers were all through short balls, showing how well he thrives on them. Australia likely underestimated his capability to play the short ball, and his early six off Nathan Ellis set the tone perfectly. Though he did not bowl in this match, his contribution with the bat was crucial.' He also expressed happiness with the return of Arshdeep Singh, whose left-arm angle helped him get three wickets, and he formed a fine bowling partnership with Jasprit Bumrah, saying that two of the best T20I bowlers in a playing XI is a 'huge asset'. 'Arshdeep and Jasprit both excel at taking wickets and restricting runs. Having two of the world's best T20 fast bowlers is a huge asset. Arshdeep was invaluable, especially with his ability to move the ball in the power play. He bowled tightly to key batsmen like Travis Head and Josh Inglis, taking crucial wickets and maintaining pressure. Even though Marcus Stoinis played well, Arshdeep's wickets were well deserved and pivotal for India,' he concluded. With this win, the series is levelled at 1-1, with two matches left. Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bowl first. After powerplay heroics from pacer Arshdeep Singh (3/35), it was a partnership between skipper Mitch Marsh (11) and Tim David (74 in 38 balls, with eight fours and five sixes) of 59 runs for third wicket and a 64-run stand between Marcus Stoinis (64 in 39 balls, with eight fours and two sixes) and Matt Short (26* in 15 balls, with two fours and a six) took Australia to 186/6 in 20 overs. In the run-chase, contributions did come from skipper Abhishek Sharma (25 in 16 balls, with two fours and two sixes), skipper Suryakumar Yadav (24 in 11 balls, with a four and two sixes) and Tilak Varma (29 in 26 balls, with a four and six). India was 145/5 in the 15th over in a tricky spot. However, a blitz from Washington (49* in 23 balls, with three fours and four sixes) and Jitesh Sharma (22* in 13 balls, with three fours) helped India keep the series alive. (ANI)

Navy 'wolf pack' drone boats in warship trial success

The demonstration was a culmination of months of trials by the Navy's Disruptive Capabilities and Technology Office (DCTO) and the Fleet Experimentation Squadron (FXS). Each of the Rattler boats were operated by a two-person team, with one responsible for piloting the drone and the other monitoring and operating onboard systems, as well as helping to manage live data streams. Cdr Michael Hutchinson said: "This is a really important moment for the Royal Navy as we progress towards a Hybrid Navy of crewed and uncrewed platforms. "We have been using autonomous systems for some time but not like this. It is a technology that will continue to develop and it will fundamentally change the way we fight."

Vitor Pereira: Tolu Arokodare set to get new coach as Wolves dismiss manager

Wolves dismiss Vitor Pereira amid winless Premier League run Tolu Arokodare’s Wolverhampton Wanderers have parted ways with manager Vitor Pereira following a dismal start to the season that has seen the club fail to secure a single victory in their opening 10 Premier League matches. The decision came after a humbling 3-0 defeat to Fulham on Saturday, which marked Wolves' eighth loss of the campaign. The result leaves the club rooted to the bottom of the table, eight points adrift of safety. Pereira, who was appointed in December 2024 and had only recently signed a new three-year contract in September, faced mounting pressure from the fanbase. Tensions boiled over following last week's 3-2 home defeat to Burnley, where Pereira required an escort after engaging in heated exchanges with supporters at Molineux. Despite their struggles in the league, Wolves had found some success in the Carabao Cup, recording victories over West Ham and Everton before being eliminated by Chelsea in the last 16 on Wednesday. With the dismissal of Pereira, Super Eagles star Tolu Arokodare who joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on September 1, 2025, will get a new coach. The Nigerian has scored two goals in nine appearances for Wolves.

Sundar, Jitesh blitz helps India level series with 5-wicket win over Australia at Hobart

Hobart [Australia], November 2 (ANI): A blitz from Washington Sundar and Jitesh Sharma towards the end and valuable contributions from almost the entire line-up helped India secure a five-wicket win over Australia in the third T20I at Hobart on Sunday. However, a blitz from Washington (49* in 23 balls, with three fours and four sixes) and Jitesh Sharma (22* in 13 balls, with three fours) helped India keep series alive. During the run-chase of 187 runs, opener Abhishek Sharma gave India the brief headstart they needed, smashing pacer Sean Abbott for two fours and a six in the second over. However, Nathan Ellis managed to get him for the third time in the series, as a top edge went straight into the hands of the wicketkeeper Josh Inglis. He was gone for 25 in 16 balls, with two fours and two sixes. India was 33/1 in 3.3 overs. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav was next up on the crease, announcing his intentions and showcasing glimpses of his top-notch rhythm and hand-eye coordination with two sixes within just four balls. India reached the 50-run mark in 4.5 overs, with vice-captain Shubman Gill playing it safe at run-a-ball. In the final over of powerplay, after flicking Ellis over mid-wicket for a four, Gill was trapped leg-before-wicket for 15 in 12 balls, continuing his poor T20I run. India was 61/2 in 5.3 overs and ended the powerplay at 64/2, with Surya and Tilak Varma at the crease. With a boundary each, the duo kept the run-rate in good health. However, Surya chipped the delivery to cover straight into the hands of Ellis, giving Stoinis the third Indian wicket for 76 runs in 7.3 overs. The captain was back in the hut for 24 in 11 balls, with a four and two sixes. However, this fall of wickets did not put any pressure on India as Tilak and Axar Patel continued to find odd boundaries. India reached the 100-run mark in 9.2 overs and ended the 10 overs at 105/3. The 35-run partnership ended with Axar being dismissed by Ellis for 17 in 12 balls, with a four to his name. India was 111/4 in 11.1 overs. Following that, Washington Sundar came to the crease and smashed a six against Ellis on his second ball and dismantled Abbott with a four and two sixes to end the 14th over at a score of 145/4. However, the cheer did not last very long for India as Tilak gave away an easy catch to Inglis and a gift to Bartlett while attempting a scoop. He was gone for 29 in 26 balls, with a four and six. India was 145/5 in 14.2 overs. India reached the 150-run mark in 14.5 overs. Some aggressive strokes from Jitesh Sharma (22* in 13 balls, with three fours) and Sundar (49* in 23 balls, with three fours and four sixes) helped India secure the game. Jitesh hit the winning boundary, ending the chase with five wickets and nine balls in hand. Ellis (3/36) was the top wicket-taker for Australia, while Bartlett and Stoinis got one each. Earlier, fiery half-centuries from Tim David and Marcus Stoinis stormed the hosts Australia to 186/6 in their 20 overs. Men in Blue captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to field. Batters Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh came out to open the innings for the hosts. The Men in Yellow did not have the start they wanted, as they lost their first wicket on the fourth ball of their innings. Head (6) was sent back to the pavillion by Arshdeep Singh. Following the opener's dismissal, the team's wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis came in the middle to bat. He, along with Marsh, was able to add just eight runs to the total as the Australian side lost their second wicket at the score of 14. Inglis (1) was dismissed by Arshdeep in the third over of the innings. Australia was reduced to 14/2. After Inglis' wicket, right-hand batter Tim David joined the Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh in the middle. David started smashing the ball from the first ball he faced. The Australian team touched the 50-run mark in the seventh over. In the eighth over, David completed his half-century after playing just 23 balls, with seven fours and three sixes. In the ninth over, mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy took two wickets in two successive balls. First, he dismissed Mitchell Marsh (11) and then Mitchell Owen (0) when the team's score was 73. Tim David went back to the dressing room in the 13th over after scoring 74(38), which came with the help of eight fours and five sixes. Australia was 118/5 in 13 overs. In the end, Marcus Stoinis (64 runs off 39 balls, with eight fours and two sixes) and Matthew Short (26* runs from 15 balls, with two fours and a six) scored some crucial runs for their side, which took the Mitchell Marsh-led side to a total of 186/6 in their 20 overs. For India, three wickets were scalped by Arshdeep Singh (3/35 in 4 overs), two wickets were taken by Varun Chakaravarthy (2/33 in 4 overs), and one wicket was claimed by Shivam Dube (1/43 in 3 overs) in their respective bowling spells. Brief Scores: Australia 186/6 in 20 overs (Tim David 74, Marcus Stoinis 64; Arshdeep Singh 3/35) lost to India: 188/5 (Washington Sundar 49*, Tilak Varma 29, Nathan Ellis 3/36). (ANI)

Unhappy Mohamed Salah admits Liverpool’s 'freaky season' has been tough but says the Reds are back

Mohamed Salah says Liverpool’s season has been “freaky” and far from ideal, but believes their latest win shows the Reds are finally finding their rhythm again. Mohamed Salah's landmark goal helped Liverpool secure a much-needed 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, simultaneously ending a difficult four-game losing streak in the league and providing a massive boost to manager Arne Slot. Salah's composure in front of goal netted him his 250th goal for the club across all competitions, a feat only surpassed by legends Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285). More significantly, the strike against Villa took his total Premier League goal involvements for the club (goals and assists) to 276 (188 goals, 88 assists), matching the record previously held by Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney for a single club. The 'Freaky Season' Admission The relief was palpable for the reigning champions, who had lost six of their last seven matches across all competitions. Speaking after the win, Salah did not shy away from the club's recent troubles. “We have had a few losses in the Premier League and Champions League, but I am glad we started to come back and it is a good push before some important matches,” Salah told PL website. “I’m not happy with how this season started, but it is a freaky season for us with new signings needing time to adapt and get to know each other. Everything will be fine.” The crucial breakthrough came moments before halftime, courtesy of a rare mistake by Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez, whose misplaced pass found Salah to calmly slot home. Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch added the second goal in the 58th minute, capping a professional performance that marked Liverpool's first clean sheet in the Premier League since mid-September. The victory was a decisive result for Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who has been under intense pressure following the club's worst domestic run in decades. The arrival of several new signings over the summer, including Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz, has necessitated a period of adjustment. Slot has continually stressed the need for patience, and Salah’s comments back this assessment, highlighting the challenge of integrating new talent. Statistically, Salah’s record-equalling achievement, reaching 276 goal involvements in just 298 league games for Liverpool, compared to Rooney’s 276 (183 goals, 93 assists) in 393 appearances for Manchester United, shows his unprecedented efficiency as 'The Egyptian King'. The win lifts Liverpool to third in the league table, providing a much-needed injection of morale ahead of a challenging week. The victory will temporarily quiet the speculation surrounding Slot’s position, giving the squad renewed belief. The true test of their "return" to form comes next, as Liverpool must face a Champions League clash with Real Madrid and a high-stakes Premier League trip to rivals Manchester City. Salah, with his contract extending to 2027, is now perfectly poised to surpass Rooney's record and potentially become the first player to achieve 300 Premier League goal involvements for a single club, further cementing his legacy. The emphatic win over an in-form Aston Villa is exactly the kind of result Slot and his team needed to draw a line under the recent slump. With their talismanic forward in record-breaking form, Liverpool will aim to prove that their 'freaky season' is now an anomaly of the past.

Fulham and Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi has spoken about the significant impact his Christian faith has had on his professional career. The 28-year-old recently became the first Nigerian to play over 300 games in the English Premier League, reaching the milestone in Fulham's recent match against Newcastle United. The Super Eagles star has been an important player for club and country, having played a big role in the World Cup qualifying campaign. His contributions, both on and off the field, were recognised at the Best of Africa Awards in London, where he received the Baobab Award in Sport for his inspirational influence. What Iwobi said In a recent interview, the Super Eagles midfielder explained that maturity has helped him embrace his identity and openly express his beliefs. "I’ve learned this the older I’ve got... if you don’t accept me for who I am, that’s literally on you. I’m not afraid to show who I am," Iwobi told CNN. He highlighted how faith is deeply integrated into his football life, particularly with the Nigerian national team. "When I’m playing in Nigeria, we’re literally praying before training and on the bus praying before matches. It’s a part of who I am," he explained. "As long as people can embrace and showcase who they are, no one should be afraid to do that, and it’s amazing to see in this day and age everyone’s comfortable doing that now." "I’m not one to take time and breathe and see what I’ve done. I like to keep on going," Iwobi stated. "When I came home from the Newcastle game, even though it was a defeat, just speaking to my parents and how excited they were gave me so much joy."

‘He's always passionate’ - NSC chairman claims Osimhen puts emotion in Super Eagles games

National Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko has revealed the intense passion of star striker Victor Osimhen when it comes to Super Eagles games. Dikko highlighted Osimhen's critical role in the Super Eagles' 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, where his presence often proved to be the difference-maker. The Galatasaray forward was Nigeria's most decisive player, scoring six goals during the qualifiers, including a memorable hat-trick in a 4-0 victory over Benin on October 14. The striker missed five matches due to fitness concerns, a period in which the Super Eagles struggled, securing only four points from a possible fifteen. Dikko speaks on Osimhen Speaking to Channels TV, Dikko offered a glimpse into the striker's fiery temperament, especially following disappointing outcomes. "Forget what you see outside the pitch. After every game, if the team does not do well, we have to manage Osimhen in the dressing room because he's always passionate about it," Dikko explained. The NSC chairman noted that the former Napoli star expects his teammates to match his own relentless commitment on the field. "He wants to push everybody to deliver," Dikko added. "He wants everyone to play the way he plays, with the heart, with the mind, with everything they've got, regardless of whether they get injured or not. “He's a good positive for the team, and even if you look at the qualification, basically all the games that he didn’t play, we had a problem." With 29 goals in 44 appearances for his country, Osimhen is rapidly closing in on a historic milestone. He is now just nine goals shy of surpassing the late Rashidi Yekini as Nigeria's all-time leading goalscorer.

FA sanction West Ham star Paqueta for failing to comply with investigation after being found guilty of breaches

West Ham United's Lucas Paqueta has been sanctioned after an independent regulatory commission found him guilty of two breaches of Football Association rules. The Brazilian midfielder was charged with failing to comply with a requirement to answer questions and provide information during an FA investigation. Despite initially denying the charges, Paqueta was found to have breached FA Rule F3 on two occasions. However, the 28-year-old has avoided a significant penalty, instead receiving a formal reprimand and a warning regarding his future conduct. FA statement on Paqueta An official FA statement, via the Sun, confirmed the outcome: "An independent Regulatory Commission has sanctioned West Ham United FC’s Lucas Paqueta for two proven breaches of FA Rule F3. “The player denied two charges of failing to comply with a requirement to answer questions and provide information to The FA’s investigation into breaches of the Rules. However, both breaches of FA Rule F3 were found proven following a hearing." Paqueta will not face a fine but is required to cover 10 percent of the Regulatory Commission's costs, with the FA paying the remainder. Several factors contributed to the lenient sanction, including Paqueta's reliance on legal advice, his eventual cooperation in providing a witness statement, and the submission of his mobile devices for inspection. The commission also considered the player's previously clean disciplinary record and the personal impact of the investigation, which included the collapse of a potential transfer to Manchester City in 2023.

‘I'm just unhappy that we couldn't win’ - Osimhen’s teammate claims there was no plan to stop Onuachu

Galatasaray star Mario Lemina has insisted that there was no specific plan to stop Trabzonspor's in-form striker, Paul Onuachu, during their draw. The Lions played a goalless draw against Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig, with Osimhen facing his countryman Onuachu. The towering Nigerian forward went into the match at Rams Park as the league's top scorer with seven goals. However, he was effectively silenced by the home side's defence, failing to register a single shot on target. Lemina speaks on Onuachu Lemina, a former Juventus and Southampton player, was a standout performer in a deeper midfield role. He was crucial in winning the individual battle against Onuachu, leading the game with five tackles and making a team-high five clearances, along with an interception and a blocked shot. When questioned by reporters about whether he had made special preparations to contain the in-form striker, Lemina credited his performance to self-belief and standard team strategy rather than a targeted approach. "I only know my own strengths. I know what I can do in duels," Lemina stated. "We did our team preparations and went out on the field. I'm just unhappy that we couldn't win." The draw marks the second consecutive match in which Onuachu has failed to score, following a four-game scoring streak in the Super Lig. The two players could potentially face each other again on the international stage, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers approaching. A call-up for both could see them clash in a high-stakes encounter between Nigeria and Gabon.

Unity group, Parsvnath to earn ₹120 crore in annual rental income from new 5 lakh sq ft mall in Delhi

Realty firms Parsvnath Developers and Unity Group will earn an annual rental income of about ₹120 crore from their new operational shopping mall in the national capital. In 2023, Parsvnath and Unity Group formed an equal joint venture to develop a mall with 5 lakh square feet of leasable area. Last month, they opened the mall 'Unity One Elegante' at Netaji Subhash Place, Delhi. "We have leased 100 per cent of the retail space in our mall," Unity Group Director Harsh Bansal told PTI. When asked about the rental income, he said it would be around ₹10 crore per month and ₹120 crore annually. Bansal said the joint venture firm has to give nearly ₹20 crore as lease rental to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Parsvnath Developers Chairman Pradeep Jain noted that there is a huge demand for quality retail space across the Delhi-NCR market. In a regulatory filing last month, Parsvnath said a special purpose vehicle, 'Unity Parsvnaths LLP', a joint venture with Unity Group, has developed this mall. Vedanta well-positioned to gain from commodity cycle, deleveraging efforts: Analysts

Vedanta's second-quarter results met street expectations on robust operational performance, with analysts viewing the miner as well-positioned to benefit from the commodity rebound while advancing its deleveraging strategy. Brokerages Nuvama, Citi, ICICI Securities and Investec maintained a strong bullish stance on metals and natural resources major Vedanta Ltd. They cited factors such as Vedanta Resources' leverage being at comfortable levels, potential medium-term upside in aluminium on the London Metal Exchange (LME), volume growth, likely lower costs, and the likely completion of the demerger process as reasons for the bullish call. Nuvama said Vedanta's focus on demerger and delivery is on the verge of paying off, supported by tailwinds from commodity prices. The brokerage expects this to contribute to higher third-quarter earnings. "Q3 FY26 EBITDA is likely to jump 20 per cent QoQ led by higher prices, volume, and lower aluminium cost of production," Nuvama said. It increased Vedanta's FY27 estimated EBITDA by 4 per cent to ₹63,450 crore, factoring in higher commodity prices. Citi Research saw potential medium-term upside for aluminium on the LME as a positive factor. "Our commodities team expects aluminium to average $3,500 in 2027. Aluminium has bullish fundamental exposure to structural energy-transition and AI trends and is leveraged to a cyclical growth rebound and US debasement concerns. During 2026, dovish Fed prospects, related lower US real interest rates, and a pickup in the US and global growth expectations are likely to be supportive," it said. In its analysis, Citi factored in higher prices for zinc, aluminium, and silver in FY27, which will boost Vedanta's earnings. "We incorporate FY27 zinc/aluminium/silver at $2,850/ $2,800/ $40 vs $2,700/ $2,600/ $38 earlier. We raise FY26/FY27/28 EBITDA by 6 per cent, 15 per cent and 16 per cent, largely on higher aluminium and zinc LME and power EBITDA (commissioning of new assets)," it said. ICICI Securities said Vedanta is a prime beneficiary of the commodity cycle, with the company's aluminium division continuing to deliver strong earnings amid higher LME prices. "Aluminium division is expected to drive the majority of earnings, aided by better volumes, lower costs, and potentially better LME (aluminium demand-supply likely to be favourable). Power segment and zinc shall play a supporting role," the brokerage said. Stating that Vedanta is a pure commodity play, ICICI Securities noted that the mining major will likely be the biggest beneficiary of a rally in commodity prices. "Aluminium, zinc, and silver contribute over 80 per cent of EBITDA, and the company has good growth plans for these segments, enabling the growth story to remain intact. Additionally, the aluminium segment would see backward integration into bauxite-alumina-coal, which would make Vedanta one of the lowest cost producers," it said. UK-based Investec Bank PLC said that the management execution on debt refinancing at Vedanta Resources - the company's parent firm - is noteworthy, implying a tapering yield ask into FY27 or FY28. Investec also noted that Vedanta's dividends in 1HFY26 stood at ₹23 per share, with the brokerage estimating an incremental dividend of ₹20 a share in H2 FY26. Vedanta's profit after tax before exceptional items jumped 13 per cent year-on-year to ₹5,026 crore. The company clocked second quarter EBITDA of ₹11,612 crore, reflecting 12 per cent YoY growth with EBITDA margin expanded by 69 bps YoY to 34 per cent. Published on November 2, 2025
