TGIIC garners Rs 3,135 crore through auction of plots at Raidurg

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) garnered Rs 3,135 crore through auction of two plots at Raidurg on Monday. This includes the tentative revenue generated through registration fee, stamp duty and other charges. Auction was conducted for two plots of 11 acres and 7.67 acres at Raidurg. The 11-acre plot fetched Rs 1,556.5 crore at Rs 141.5 crore per acre and five bidders participated in the auction. Earlier in the day, the first auction for 7.67-acre plot generated Rs 1,358 crore at Rs 177 crore per acre. Twelve bidders participated in the auction. The strategic location within Hyderabad Knowledge City, coupled with connectivity to HITEC City and Gachibowli, has positioned these two plots as benchmarking real estate for marquee commercial developments. TGIIC Vice Chairman & Managing Director K Shashanka appreciated all the bidders for their enthusiastic participation and for placing their trust in Telangana’s dynamic growth narrative. He also commended the efforts of TGIIC, JLL and MSTC in conducting the auction successfully and transparently.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Parents staged a sit-in on a road demanding that officials shift students from a dilapidated social welfare hostel to a safer place in Sirpur (T) mandal centre on Monday. The agitating parents alleged that officials were showing negligence in repairing the hostel building, thereby risking the lives of students despite repeated requests. They urged officials to ensure the safety of the children by relocating them to a safer facility. Meanwhile, BRS cadres extended solidarity to the protest. BRS leader Dr RS Praveen Kumar assured that he would bring the issue to the notice of higher officials for early action. He criticised local MLA Dr Harish Babu and MLC Dande Vittal for failing to provide basic amenities and address public grievances.

Man bludgeoned to death by relatives in Medak

Medak: A man was brutally murdered, allegedly by his relatives, who smashed his head with a boulder at Shalipet village in Chinna Shankarampet mandal on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Uppari Yadagiri (46). According to Toopran DSP Narendar Goud, Yadagiri was a habitual offender with several criminal cases registered against him in the past. Holding a grudge against him, his relatives Uppari Ramulu, Shamulu and Yellam allegedly attacked him with boulders, killing him on the spot. The police shifted the body to the government hospital for postmortem. A manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.

Asifabad DSP dies of cardiac arrest

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: DSP (Functional Vertical) Sabbati Vishnu Murthy died of cardiac arrest here on Sunday night. He was 58. Murthy complained of chest pain at night and was immediately shifted to a hospital, where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment. Hailing from Hyderabad, he had joined the Police Department as a Sub-Inspector in 1971 and had worked in Karimnagar, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Warangal, Nizamabad and Adilabad districts. Meanwhile, the SP expressed grief over the demise of the DSP. He said Murthy was a sincere, disciplined and committed police officer. He assured that all necessary support would be extended to the bereaved family by the department.

Jubilee Hills bypoll: Model Code of Conduct comes into force; sets Rs 50,000 cash limit

Hyderabad: The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency by-election came into effect immediately on Monday in and around the city, following the announcement of the by-election dates. The MCC will now be in force across Hyderabad and parts of Cyberabad, as areas like Shaikpet, Sanathnagar, Allapur and Madhapur fall under the Jubilee Hills constituency’s limits, despite being under the jurisdiction of Cyberabad Commissionerate. The enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct in these areas is in addition to the MCC already active in parts of Rachakonda and Cyberabad suburbs due to the previously announced schedule for the rural local body polls by the State Election Commission. As part of the MCC restrictions, authorities will seize cash exceeding Rs 50,000 if individuals cannot provide valid documentation proving its legitimacy. The limit to carry cash without documentation is Rs 50,000. Anyone caught with more than this amount without valid proof is liable to have the money seized by authorities, including Static Surveillance Teams (SST) deployed by the Election Commission. Seized cash under Rs 10 lakh is usually deposited with revenue authorities, while the Income Tax (IT) Department is informed for seizures over Rs 10 lakh. One can legally carry more than Rs 50,000 cash if they possess sufficient documents to prove the cash is for a legitimate, non-election-related purpose, such as medical emergencies, bank withdrawals, business transactions, education fees, and property dealings. The election authorities will deploy Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams across the constituency while the local police will also conduct vehicle checking in neighbouring areas of routes leading to the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency. There are also restrictions on carrying large quantities of gold, silver and other precious metals without proper documents.

Jogulamba Gadwal: Tollywood actor Vijay Devarakonda escaped unhurt after his car was involved in an accident at Undavalli in Jogulamba Gadwal district on Monday evening. The actor was returning to Hyderabad from Puttaparthi when the mishap occurred. As a result, the actor’s car collided with a Bolero pickup coming from the opposite direction, partially damaging his vehicle, reports said. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Following the accident, Vijay Devarakonda boarded his friend’s car and continued his journey to Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: Pakistan batter Sidra Amin has been reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup match against India in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Sunday. Sidra was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.” In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to her disciplinary record, as it was her first offence in a 24-month period. The incident occurred when Sidra forcefully hit her bat onto the pitch after being dismissed in the 40th over. Sidra admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Shandré Fritz of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing. On-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, third umpire Kerrin Klaaste, and fourth umpire Kim Cotton levelled the charge. Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
