Shafali Verma hammers 87 in Women's World Cup final: Stats

Shafali Verma smashed a solid 87-run knock for India in the final of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 on Sunday. The opening batter floored South Africa in Navi Mumbai with a clutch knock. Lily Allen reveals why she was banned from Hinge after David Harbour split

Lily Allen is ready to get back out there after her split from David Harbour — but the apps aren't making it easy. In the spirit of promoting her new album, West End Girl, which pulls no punches when addressing her four-year marriage and eventual separation from the Stranger Things star, Allen has been candid about the details of her personal life, revealing that she has not only begun exploring dating apps, but that she's already been banned from one. "They're awful, especially if you're going through heartbreak," Allen said of the apps in a recent chat with Interview. "There is nothing more depressing than hundreds of people that are nothing like the person that you're missing. It's just like, 'No, that's not him. That's not him. That's not him.'" As for the additional stress of dating as a public figure, the singer said, "I'm not really looking to go out with another famous person. Also, when I go on dates with other people, there's a bit of a barrier in terms of — not so much here, but in England — it's a bit of a novelty to be on a date with me… To want to get past that, I have to really, really be interested in that person." Allen, who said she uses the membership-based dating app Raya, also noted that she spent some time on Hinge — that is, before she got banned for "impersonating" herself. "I'm like, 'I can prove that I'm that person,'" she said. "They're like, 'You'll need to send us your ID.'" There was just one problem: The singer was born Lily Rose Beatrice Allen, so the name on her profile was not a perfect match. "I'm like, 'Actually, my name and the name on my ID aren't the same,'" she recalled saying. Allen's new record addresses their relationship and breakup across several songs in which she implies that her ex-husband cheated on her and violated the terms of their open marriage. "It's not a cruel album," Allen told Interview. "I don't feel like I'm being mean. It was just the feelings I was processing at the time." She worked on West End Girl alongside producer Blue May — who served as the musical director of her 2018 tour — over the course of 16 days in December. "At the time, I was really trying to process things," she said. "And that's great in terms of the album, but I don't feel confused or angry now. I don't need revenge." She continued, "It was very important to me that I didn't sound like a victim, so I'd be like, 'We have to change that line. It just sounds too 'poor me.' I wanted it to feel brutal and tragic, but also empowering, that there was joy in being able to express it." President Donald Trump, on the other hand, spent the weekend partying and golfing at Mar-a-Lago—a reflection of what has been his uncharacteristically reserved approach to Tuesday’s vote. Obama delivered speeches in support of two congresswomen-turned-gubernatorial candidates: Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey and Abigail Spanberger in Virginia. Quick commerce platform Zepto has waived off all handling and surge fees, and slashed the minimum order value for free delivery to ₹99. The move comes just weeks after the company raised a whopping $450 million in a funding round. Under its new 'All new Zepto experience,' the firm is promoting zero handling fee, zero rain and surge charge, as well as zero delivery fee on orders over ₹99. Previously, Zepto charged a handling fee for handling of products in your orders at our stores. Now, the company has positioned itself as the most affordable quick commerce platform in the market. This move puts direct pressure on its main competitors, like Blinkit and Instamar,t who still charge different service fees. Zepto's competitors, Blinkit and Instamart, continue to charge different service fees. Blinkit charges an ₹11 handling fee and a ₹30 delivery fee on orders below ₹199. Instamart, on the other hand, levies a ₹9.8 handling fee and a ₹30 delivery charge for orders below ₹199. Both platforms also impose additional charges like rain and surge fees. The market shift was expected after Zepto's recent funding, which industry experts predicted would heighten competition and promote discounting across the sector. Media reports from October 18 indicated that the funding would increase cash burn as platforms focus on expansion and price competition. Experts expect discounting to continue and possibly intensify in the coming months. Zepto's latest move is a stark contrast to the trend seen earlier this year. In June, industry reports revealed that quick commerce platforms had collectively added a slew of fees, platform, handling, convenience, and small-cart levies to customer orders. ISRO targets 7 missions by March 2026, eyes first uncrewed Gaganyaan launch

ISRO has set a target to launch seven missions, including its ambitious first uncrewed mission under the Gangayaan programme, before the end of March 2026, Chairman V Narayanan said on Sunday. The Bengaluru-headquartered space agency has planned to make three uncrewed missions before the crewed mission under the Gaganyaan programme, and the first uncrewed launch 'G1 Mission' is expected to happen by March 2026, he said. "Our Gaganyaan programme is progressing well. It is in advanced stages. All hardware have arrived at Sriharikota and integration (of the hardware) is happening. We have planned three uncrewed mission. The first uncrewed mission, 'G1 Mission', is going to be achieved before the end of the current financial year," he said. Narayanan was speaking to reporters after the successful launch of communication satellite CMS-03 onboard a LVM3-M05 rocket from this spaceport. Seven missions on the launchpad On the future mission programmes, Narayanan, who is also the Secretary, Department of Space, said seven missions have been planned before the end of March 2026. He said this initiative was under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for ISRO to make 50 rocket launches over the next five year period. "We have planned seven launches to take place before the end of this financial year. It is by March 2026," he said. Commercial and tech missions ahead Giving some insights on the planned missions, he said after Sunday's LVM3-M05 launch, ISRO would undertake another LVM3 rocket launch which would carry a 'commercial communication satellite' for a client. "After that, we have got three more PSLV missions. One is for NSIL customer satellite," he said. NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL) is the commercial arm of the ISRO. Narayanan said ISRO has also planned for another technology development mission PSLV-N1 targeted to be launched before the end of the current financial year. "So many developments are taking place. We have also planned for a GSLV-F17 rocket mission before March 2026," he said. Noting that ISRO has drawn up various missions by March 2026, he said, "I know it is not an easy job. It is a tough job. But I know that we will accomplish these activities (in future)." "Team ISRO is geared up to meet the vision of the Prime Minister to launch 50 missions in the next 5 years," he added. At 4410 kg, the CMS-03, a replacement satellite for GSAT-7 used by the Indian Navy, was placed in the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) by the LVM-3 rocket on Sunday evening. “The successful launch of the CMS-03 satellite by LVM3 rocket (Bahubali) is a monumental achievement for India, powerfully demonstrating our sovereign capability in launching heavy-payload satellites for strategic applications,” Lt Gen Anil K Bhatt (retd.), Director General Indian Space Association (ISpA) said in a statement here. Subba Rao Pavuluri, Chairman of Ananth Technologies Pvt. Ltd (ATL) and President of the Satcom Industry Association-India, said the successful launch of CMS-3, a multi-band military communication satellite demonstrated ISRO’s capability to deliver advanced communication infrastructure to the nation. Pavuluri said ATL contributed huge number of sub-systems, including power control and management system, power distribution systems, telemetry and tele-command systems for interfacing with ground control centre, payload DC-DC converters, star sensor for navigation purpose to the CMS-03 satellite. “We at ATL are honoured to be a part of this achievement and to contribute to ISRO’s continuing legacy of excellence and innovation. Each success reinforces our collective commitment to advancing India’s space capabilities and self-reliance,” he said. ATL also supplied several critical subsystems, including control electronics modules, navigation and guidance systems, electro-mechanical actuator systems, avionics power supply modules, and several other key components for the LVM-3 rocket. Village needs clean water supply

RANU lasi, in Motu language means no water. The need and accessibility to have safe and clean running water is only a dream for all Motu Koitabu in both Central Province and National Capital District. For more than 50 years, the indigenous inhabitants of the nation’s capital Port Moresby including the neighbouring corridors of the Central coastline have faced immense challenges of having a proper water supply connected to their villages. After just celebrating the nation’s 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary recently, the struggle by women and children in these villages are real and continue. It just takes you a few minutes to drive to their villages to see their daily battles looking for water. Such places are Porebada, Boera, Roku, Kouderika, Papa and Rearea. With the abundance of the nation’s wealth including big business investment such as Natural Liquified Gas (LNG) at their doorstep, this vital human need must be addressed by relevant authorities. While the people appreciate the direct benefits of this business such as employment and few social infrastructure developments. Proper water and sanitation have never been on the project agenda. Many residents in Porebada, especially mothers being interviewed by the Post-Courier recently all shared the same sentiments, and are begging the Marape-Rosso Government to intervene and assist, “we need water please help us”, said Jaga Jerry, a mother of three children from Porebada village. According to a community leader Taumaku Baru, in 1968 pioneer councillor from Porebada village, late Taumaku Morea brought water supply into the village. In 1978 electricity was connected to the village. Taumaku was serving as the president of Hiri Rural Local Level Government and delivering these services. Neighbouring Kouderika village was also connected to the city’s water supply system. The LLG through the Central Provincial Government continues to maintain the city water supply system to the villages through the annual recurrent budgets. But through the administrative restructure in the eighties by the introduction of the Organic law on Provincial and Local Level Government, funding constraint was faced. The water supply later ceased to operate. Back in 1991, with the support of the then Prime Minister Paias Wingti, the water supply was restored. A prominent Motuan leader, a former Governor of the Bank of Papua New Guinea and Treasury Secretary Morea Vele, also played a critical role in this restoration project. The last time I witnessed the water taps being opened in the village and women assembling containers to fetch water was in 2002. After That, the water ceased completely. Over the years the pipes that were channeled through University of Papua New Guinea to Porebada village were tampered with, with reported cases of illegal connections along the way. Now the commercial buildings have increased along the corridor of the Porebada, Boera, Papa and Rearea road. The Porebada villagers are now wondering when the water will be flowing through these pipes which were initially constructed for them to have access to water from the city. There are two existing bore water wells in Porebada. A Central Provincial Government bore water projects in the community, with two more committed by Governor Rufina Peter recently. The Redscar High School through its Local Level Government grants built its own bore water supply purposely used for washing by the teachers. The neighbouring four impact villages of Boera, Papa and Rearea are all facing challenges of having access to clean water for consumption for its residents. It is the National Government duty in providing basic public utilities and services to its citizens. If the Porebada villages which are just a few kilometres away from Waigani cannot have access to better water, the rest of the country having the similar needs can wait until the cows come home. Porebada village has two council wards, East and West. It is a well clustered modern village with 35 clans and 10,000 population all living within close proximity can all share a common tap at three or four different locations if the water supply reaches them in the future. The water challenge itself has now become a political propaganda agenda for candidates promising to fix the issues every election. Both at the National and Local level government elections. However very little has been done to address it. The current price of water in the village ranges from K2-K4 per 20 to 30 litre containers. A family can spend K15 per day for buying water. For many who do not have a stable income, to buy water every day is indeed a nightmare for them. The state institutions in the communities like Redscar High School, Porebada Primary School and clinic center all do not have a proper, safe, clean and consistent water supply. The teachers and health workers serving this village all face water problems yet continue to do their job. Water borne diseases are common in the villages that have severely affected the people, including women and children. From the far end of Manumanu, to Kido, Gorohu, Lealea, Papa, Boera, Porebada, Kouderika and Roku are the homes of the Motu Koitabu. The villages further stretch to the National Capital District in Port Moresby. They are Baruni, Tatana, Hanuabada, Pari, Kirakira. And to the eastern side of Hiri LLG are Tubuseria, Barakau, Manugoro, Gaire, Gabagaba. The Motu-Koitabuans are peace loving and very respectable. These villages in the Hiri west were little known to the outside world. Until the establishment of the PNG LNG plant project along that section of the Hiri West in Central Province. But this multi million kina project does not benefit this entire coastline, in terms of its royalty, levies, equity or job opportunities. The Infrastructure Development Grants were paid to the Central Provincial Government and the Hiri Special Purpose Authority. The four impact villages of Papa, Rearea, Boera and Porebada. These villages have transitioned from a village hamlet of sago thatched roof to a modern village since 1975. People who are able to afford have built better homes on their land and along the beaches or on the sea. But their struggles to live like any other places in Papua New Guinea has always been a challenge. Existing government facilities in the village includes, schools, health centres, electricity, roads accessibility to Port Moresby. Communication towers are provided by Digicel, Vodafone and B-mobile. One of the dominant problems encountered in these villages is having access to better drinking water and sanitation.

ABUJA, Nigeria — The U.S. cannot unilaterally carry out any military operation in Nigeria over its claims of Christian persecution in the West African country, a Nigerian presidential spokesman told The Associated Press Sunday. Such military threat from Donald Trump is based on misleading reports and appears to be part of “Trump’s style of going forceful in order to force a sit-down and have a conversation,” according to Daniel Bwala, a spokesman for Nigerian President Bola Tinubu. Bwala was responding to Trump’s comment on Saturday that he has ordered the Pentagon to begin planning for potential military action in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, over alleged Christian persecution in the country. Here are five things to know about the issue: Trump’s ‘guns blazing’ threat Trump on Saturday doubled down on his allegations that the government is failing to rein in the persecution of Christians in the West African country, whose population of 220 million is split almost evenly between Christians and Muslims. “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” Trump posted on social media. Trump’s threat came after he designated Nigeria as a country of particular concern, a formal U.S. declaration of countries it says are failing to act over religious freedom violations. The threat and designation came after U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and some American celebrities alleged that Christians are being persecuted in Nigeria, without evidence. Some went as far as alleging a “Christian genocide.” The Associated Press found that both Christians and Muslims are killed in Nigeria’s security crises, and that victims are often determined by their locations and not due to their religion. Nigeria denies Christians are persecuted Cruz and Trump relied on old reports from more than a decade ago when Nigeria’s home-grown Boko Haram Islamic group launched an insurgency to enforce their brutal interpretation of Shariah law, said Bwala. “When it comes to matters of military operation in Nigeria, this is a matter that two leaders have to agree on. It is not something unilaterally you can do especially since that country is a sovereign state and that country is not aiding and abating that (crime),” he said. Tinubu has also rejected the designation and promised to work with the U.S. government and foreign partners ”to deepen cooperation on protection of communities of all faiths.” Joseph Hayab, a former chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna state, also dismissed claims of Christians persecution being carried out. Hayab, a pastor in a conflict hot spot, however, said the government needs to do more to secure lives in conflict-battered villages. Christians and Muslims face violence Nigeria has for many years struggled with deadly security crises, and the violence have affected both Christians and Muslims, each group making up almost half of the country’s population. The violence, which is mainly in northern Nigeria, is often perpetuated by Boko Haram insurgents and by armed gangs that authorities have said include mostly former herders who took up arms against farming communities after persistent clashes between herders and farmers. “The crisis is far more complex than a simple religious framing suggests. The geography of violence largely determines who becomes the victim,” said Taiwo Hassan Adebayo, a researcher at the Institute of Security Studies. Nigeria’s military has carried out air strikes and special operations targeting the hideouts of the armed gangs. Tinubu also recently replaced the country’s security chiefs as he seeks to bolster their operations. ‘Massive state failure’ While some analysts have dismissed the claims of Christians being targeted in Nigeria, they said they government has failed to act decisively against armed groups. “In too many cases, the perpetrators have gotten away with it, and the impunity is deeply indicative of massive state failure,” said Cheta Nwanze, a partner at the Lagos-based SBM Intelligence research firm. You can soon fly to Kenya, Egypt via Akasa Air

Akasa Air, the airline founded by Vinay Dube, is looking to expand its international footprint. The CEO has said that the airline is considering launching flights to countries like Kenya, Ethiopia, and Egypt. Dube also revealed that Akasa Air will soon announce new flights to Sharjah. The airline currently operates a fleet of 30 Boeing 737 MAX planes and plans to add more than one aircraft this year. Dube emphasized the capabilities of Akasa Air's aircraft, saying they can easily reach East Africa and Mauritius. He said, Our aircraft are capable of hitting the shores of East Africa, absolutely it can go to Mauritius and on the southern side, it can go to Kenya, Ethiopia, Egypt. The CEO also hinted at potential routes to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in Central Asia. Currently, Akasa Air operates flights to six international cities: Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City and Phuket. The airline also flies to 24 domestic destinations. Dube said the airline's Available Seat Kilometers (ASK) is currently 20% international and 80% domestic. He expects this ratio to change by March 2027 with the international share increasing to around 30%. Akasa Air currently employs 750-775 pilots and plans to resume hiring in 2026, mainly for first officer positions. Dube said the airline is confident about its delivery schedule, especially after the US Federal Aviation Administration allowed Boeing to ramp up production of MAX aircraft. The airline has a firm order for a total of 226 Boeing 737 MAX planes. Dube also hinted at possible codeshare and interline partnerships in the next financial year. He said, We need to be a little bigger to be an attractive partner for a number of codeshare, interline requirements that other airlines have. On funding, Dube said Akasa Air is well-capitalized and plans to consider an initial public offering (IPO) in the next two to five years.
