Job Description

The Accounting Assistant will provide day-to-day accounting support, maintain accurate financial records, and assist with ensuring compliance with government and regulatory reporting (e.g., the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)). You will play a key role in supporting the Finance team, reconciling accounts, processing payables/receivables, and coordinating with auditors and regulatory bodies.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & AccountingAssist in maintaining accurate business accounting records.Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.Complete assigned balance sheet general ledger reconciliations monthly and provide support to the Accountant.Perform ad-hoc duties as required to support the Finance Team.Accounts Payable and ReceivableManage the accounts receivable process including debtor collections and weekly/monthly reporting in line with company policy.Support the accounts payable process: assist department managers on creditor queries, process supplier invoices, reimbursements and payment requests in a timely manner.Prepare and monitor aging reports and ensure timely collection of receivables.Maintain proper documentation and reconciliation of all AP and AR transactions.ReconciliationsPerform regular inter-company and balance sheet reconciliations.Investigate and resolve discrepancies and ensure reconciling items are addressed promptly.Compliance & TaxAssist in the preparation and filing of statutory returns (e.g., VAT, Withholding Tax, Income Tax).Assist in compliance with BIR, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and other regulatory requirements.Support external audit processes and respond to auditor queries.Liaise directly with the BIR for compliance-related matters including registration updates, document submissions, and filing of tax returns.Systems & Process ImprovementMaintain accounting systems and ensure proper documentation of procedures.Participate in system upgrades, process enhancements, and automation initiatives.QualificationsDegree in Accountancy or a Finance-related course.At least 1 year of experience in relevant accounting work.Understanding of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and tax regulations.Knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Xero, Microsoft Dynamics 365).Proficient in MS Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Core CompetenciesIntegrity and professionalism.Strong organizational and time management skills.High attention to accuracy and detail.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Team player with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
