Job DescriptionScope: Accounting Senior Specialist for CooperVision Japan (CVJ) will play a key role in overseeing Accounts Payable (“AP”) and Treasury daily operations & monthly/quarterly/annual closing and related tasks to perform financial reporting and cash management of the entire CVJ organization. This role will also interface with HQ and Regional Finance members to effectively lead communication and information sharing regarding CVJ’s financial operations, accounting and SOX matters mainly in relation to AP.This role will include Procurement-to-Pay workflow improvements and challenging the status quo of the company-wide processes, streamlining and enhancing the current AP/related processes to be the best-in-class organization and to be a business partner. This role will be potentially promoted to Accounting Manager, depending on her/his competencies, achievements, and career aspiration. This role will directly report to CVJ Accounting Manager and have solid regular interactions with APAC Region/Global Finance, Internal Control Team, and Internal Audit Team.ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions & Accountabilities: Lead/supervise/conduct handling of the invoices from vendors, employee expense claims and journal entries of Account Payable. Design/lead/conduct procurement-to-pay processes and payments of the invoices appropriately. Update/maintain accurate financial records and general ledger postings. Collaborate with internal /external departments to resolve issues related to AP and payments. Lead preparation for monthly/quarterly/annual accounting close of the company’s entire OpEx/contra revenue/inventory in compliance with USGAAP and company policies with accuracy and timeliness, supporting Financial Accounting Manager and Finance Director . Lead coordination with Corporate Treasury and to handle/monitor/control deposit of cash and cash equivalents in the company bank accounts and preparation of bank account related documents and journal entries. Manage banking administration and cash flow activities, including liaising with banking partners, forecasting and securing approvals for high-value payments, executing fund transfers, and supporting loan estimations and refinancing. Lead/collaborate with and support FP&A on OpEx management and cashflow forecast. Work with HQ and Region Finance to address inquiries and accounting/SOX issues. Collaborate in managing internal/external audits including Taxes, SOX, Financial , BS Review, and Business processes. Take full ownership of SOX process controls related to AP/Treasury/Procurement. Lead “projects” to drive more efficient operations and processes in collaboration with business partner. Proactively drive and/or support strategic initiatives by identifying and implementing process improvements, independently managing small-scale reviews, and driving continual improvements. QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities: Solid accounting knowledge/skills with accuracy and attention to detail. Basic knowledge of accounting and financial control, especially on US GAAP and SOX. Big data handling skill. Solid PC/ERP system skills and advanced skills in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Fluent in Japanese and business level English to have business communication/discussion with overseas stakeholders. Good communication skills required for effective information collection, verification and business partnering with prioritization and risk-control viewpoints. Coordination and management skills of routine tasks and ad-hoc requirement in an environment demanding both accuracy and speed. Collaboration/teamwork/respect-each-other mindset in a humble/friendly way. Speak-up and driving-business mindset with innovative mindset and passion to change and move forward. Clear career aspirations, always challenging him/herself for self-development. Strong ethics as a finance professional. Experience: Minimum 5 years or more of experience in accounting field. Certified Bookkeeping Level 2 Hands-on experience in US GAAP accounting and SOX audit management. Proven track record for any achievements which may contribute to the company’s business, or which shows the candidate’s potential. Experience in foreign affiliated companies where English communication takes place on a daily basis. Project management experience in small to mid-sized process improvement initiatives Experience or involvement in Procurement-to-Pay processes or offshore migration projects is a plus Education: Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree. Licensure/Certifications: 2nd grade or upper for Nissho Bookkeeping. USCPA/JICPA preferred.
