| Not-for-Profit | Animal Care Award rate Casual $33.70 Join us and make a difference!At AWLQ, we’re committed to creating a brighter future for animals in need and keeping pets and people together by providing lifesaving support and resources to people in need with companion animals.About The RoleAnimal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) is currently looking for casual Animal Care Attendants at the Willawong and Warra Rehoming Centres!AWLQ Animal Attendants play a huge part in ensuring the welfare of our animals.Key ResponsibilitiesWorking with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to ensure the welfare of animals in care, including dogs, cats, livestock, and small pets, is to the highest standardMaintaining and cleaning of animal housing to a high standardProviding a high standard of animal care, including administering routine veterinary medications and treatmentsProviding positive-based enrichment and behaviour management programs for animalsImpounding and reuniting lost animals with their ownersAssisting customers with pet meet and greets and adoptionsHigh-level accuracy and attention to detail when updating animal and person records using our digital system.Exceptional customer Service to all visitors to the Rehoming Centre’sWhat are the minimum requirements for this position?Knowledge and demonstrated experience with animal care in a professional environmentPrevious animal industry experience in a similar capacity with dogs and cats.National Police Clearance CertificateExperience using digital management software and inputting dataOpen driver’s licenseCertificate III in Animal Studies, companion animals, Dog Training, or behaviour qualification. It is not essential, but would be highly desirable.To Be Successful In This Role, You Will HaveExcellent Customer ServiceThe ability to work in a team and independentlyExperience working with dogs, cats and livestock.Knowledge and demonstrated ability with animal quarantine and disease managementConfident dog and cat handling skills, able to read body language and communicate animal behaviourComputer skills, able to use Microsoft Office, email and data management systemsBe able to work a 7-day roster – which covers weekends and public holidays, with a 6 pm finish on some shifts.Reliable transport Who are we?Founded in 1959, AWLQ has become a trusted leader in animal welfare.
