Assistant Accountant

OverviewA large international organisation within the product distribution sector is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support its finance function. The role focuses on accurate transactional accounting, reconciliations, and month-end support, contributing to strong financial controls within a regulated and fast-paced environment.Responsibilities:Perform daily bank reconciliationsEnsure timely posting of bank transactions into the accounting systemPost journals and support month-end closing activitiesMaintain accurate and up-to-date ledger entriesReconcile key control accounts, including GRNI, duty accruals, freight accruals, stock in transit, and rebatesAssist in preparing monthly management accountsSupport variance analysis and KPI reporting (margin, inventory, freight costs, etc.)Ensure adherence to internal policies and financial controlsSupport internal and external audit requirementsAssist with finance projects and process improvementsManage queries across multiple business stakeholdersRequirements:AAT qualified or studying towards CIMA/ACCA (or equivalent)Previous experience in an accounting or finance roleProficient in Excel and familiar with accounting systems (experience with SAP or JD Edwards beneficial)Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracyConfident communication and interpersonal skillsComfortable working in a multicurrency environment
