The entity provides specialized support services to the various divisions of the Damen Shipyards Group in key areas such as Finance, Audit, Legal, and Compliance.Purpose of the Role The Assistant Purchaser supports the procurement of non-product-related goods and services (e.g., facility services, IT, office supplies, consultancy, training) in accordance with internal procedures and project needs. The role focuses on administrative and operational procurement tasks, contributing to timely and accurate purchasing processes while developing procurement knowledge and skills.Position in the Organization Department: Procurement NPRReports to: Manager Procurement and Category Manager or Senior PurchaserWorks closely with: Internal stakeholders (e.g., HR, IT, Facility Management, Finance) and suppliers.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the preparation and processing of purchase orders in the ERP system.Request and collect quotations from suppliers.Assist in comparing offers and preparing evaluations.Drafting of contracts.Follow up on order confirmations and delivery schedules.Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.Support supplier communication and coordination.Assist in monitoring delivery performance and reporting issues.Assist in contract management.Contribute to the maintenance of supplier and item master data.Learn and apply procurement procedures and compliance requirements.Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement team. Qualifications And ExperienceA bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Logistics, Procurement) or equivalent professional ability.Relevant procurement education.5 -7 years of experience in a procurement role.Familiarity with ERP systems and MS Office (especially Excel).Interest in procurement and supply chain processes.Proficient in English (written and verbal); Dutch is preferred.
