Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is proudly supporting our client, a fast-growing general supplier company serving the furniture and construction/technical industries, in their search for an Assistant Manager Purchasing (Mandarin Speaker). This position is Jakarta-based.About the RoleOur client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Manager Purchasing who will lead procurement activities, manage vendor relationships, and ensure strategic sourcing to support business operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and the capability to manage procurement across furniture and/or construction-related materials.Mandarin proficiency is mandatory due to frequent communication with China-based suppliers.Key ResponsibilitiesManage end-to-end purchasing processes for furniture and construction/technical materials.Source, evaluate, and negotiate with both local and international vendors (especially China).Develop procurement strategies to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong long-term relationships.Coordinate closely with internal teams: project, production, logistics, and finance.Prepare cost analysis, price comparisons, and purchasing reports for management.Support improvement of purchasing SOPs and workflow efficiency.Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policy and project requirements.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.Fluent in Mandarin (spoken & written) – mandatory.Minimum 4–6 years of purchasing/procurement experience, ideally from furniture, construction, technical supply, or general trading sectors.Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.Experience in sourcing from China and understanding of import processes is preferred.Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple projects, and meet tight timelines.Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel is a must).
