Time Type:Full timeWorking Pattern: HybridPurpose of the RoleAEGIS London is currently seeking an experienced Assistant Underwriter to assist in the underwriting and development of the syndicate’s global Terrorism & Political Violence portfolio in accordance with the Syndicate’s Business Plan, class strategy, Underwriting Guidelines and personal underwriting authorities.Duties And AccountabilitiesTo responsibly underwrite Terrorism & Political Violence business in accordance with personal underwriting authorities and the Syndicate’s underwriting procedures, referring risks to the Class Underwriter or Head of Specialty when or if requiredTo ensure that the service provided to brokers, coverholders and policyholders is of the highest standardTo ensure that renewals are handled with in a timely, efficient and thorough manner in line with strategic goalsTo monitor Opal, binders, facilities and lineslips for, declarations, premium income and aggregates, including the undertaking of referrals and reviews when applicableLiaise with senior underwriters, senior management, brokers, coverholders and external auditors as requiredTo process documents via AEGILITY, including quotes, submissions, renewals, endorsements and potentially new businessAssist Credit Control with advice regarding written to actual premium differences and liaising with brokers for cash collection and query resolutionContinue to develop underwriting and technical knowledgeTo undertake business travel when appropriate in order to cultivate and maintain business relationshipsTo complete other duties as directed, including project work and the production of ad hoc reportsSkills, Knowledge And ExperienceThe successful candidate will have:A working knowledge of the Terrorism / PV market, including comprehension of policy wordings, coverages, premium rates and risk factorsStrong geopolitical interests; including a sophisticated understanding of regional and global security environmentsThe ability to work collegiately as part of a team, as well as individually when requiredWell developed social skills with the ability to forge and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholdersExcellent organisational and planning skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage time effectivelyStrong negotiation and decision-making skillsGood presentation and communication skillsExcellent analytical skillsPreferably making progress towards ACII completion, or prepared to study towards ACII.Degree level or similar in a relevant subject field would be advantageousAEGIS ValuesFairness and respectWe make decisions considering the best interests of key stakeholders.
