Reporting to the Director of Outreach, the Associate Director will lead local efforts aligned with USF’s mission to foster community-engaged learning, research, service, and partnership. This position will serve as a visible ambassador for USF St. Petersburg, working closely with civic leaders, nonprofits, businesses, schools, and affinity groups to advance shared goals and enhance the campus’s impact in the region.ResponsibilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES:Community Outreach and Program ManagementLead the planning, organization, and execution of campus-based outreach programs and events to enhance USFSP’s visibility and impact in the region and tailor the approach to the unique character and priorities of the St. Petersburg region.Work in partnership with the Director of Outreach, campus leadership, and colleagues across all USF campuses to ensure St. Petersburg community engagement activities align with the university-wide outreach framework.Lead the planning and execution of USFSP community outreach programming, workshops, events, and activities.Partner with civic leaders, nonprofit organizations, businesses, schools, and cultural institutions to expand access to USF resources and foster mutually beneficial and reciprocal relationships.Assist with identifying, cultivating, and sustaining partnerships with local non-profit organizations, non-government agencies, and local schools.Communication and AdvocacyCollaborate with university communications and marketing teams to highlight outreach successes and promote the shared mission of USF’s community engagement enterprise.Assist with coordination of representation of USFSP at community meetings, events, and coalitions, in collaboration with other university representatives.Support faculty, staff, and students in connecting their teaching, research, community-engaged and service activities with community-identified needs and opportunities.Serve as a liaison between university and community partners, fostering strong, collaborative relationships.Evaluation, Reporting, and Resource ManagementEstablish metrics to assess the impact and effectiveness of outreach initiatives through regular reports on outreach activities, outcomes, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.Responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of program staff, student employees, and other personnel.Oversee the use of resources and budgets for assigned programs, ensuring alignment with university fiscal policies.Assist with identifying funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, and supporting fundraising efforts for community engagement programs in St. Petersburg.Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to advance the strategic goals of both USFSP and the university-wide Office of University Community Partnerships.QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in communications, political science, nonprofit management, education, or a related field, and minimum of six (6) years related experience. Demonstrated success in managing collaborative initiatives with diverse stakeholders and effective interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) will be critical for success in this role.FLSB1310 Equivalency4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in communications, political science, nonprofit management, education, or related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in community outreach, partnership development, or a related area, preferably in a higher education setting.Special Skills/TrainingDemonstrated experience supporting and coordinating community outreach initiatives, with the ability to lead the planning, organization, and execution of engagement strategies. Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with a solid understanding of diverse community needs and dynamics. Skilled in building positive relationships with internal teams and external partners.
