The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and willing to make a significant contribution to the development of the Faculty.RequiredThe Department of Mercantile and Labour Law is responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervision, research, and community engagement in the fields of Mercantile Law (Corporate Law, Fintech Law and Regulation, Competition Law, International Trade and Investment Law, Tax Law) as well as Labour Law. The successful candidate for the vacant position in the Department of Mercantile and Labour Law will be required to teach Corporate Law and possibly aspects of Fintech Law and Regulation. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the following key performance areas:Academic leadership within the Department Facilitation of learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levelsConducting research and publishing in the field of Mercantile LawSupervising undergraduate and postgraduate students at Masters and Doctoral levelAcademic administrationCurriculum development and assessment Community engagementMinimum RequirementsMinimum Requirements for the position of Associate Professor:LLD or equivalent, in the field of Mercantile lawteaching experience in the field of Mercantile lawa significant record of quality peer reviewed publications in the field of Mercantile lawa record of successful postgraduate supervision, at least at Master’s levelevidence of expertise, national standing, and an international presence in the field of Mercantile Lawthe integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or researchMinimum Requirements For The Position Of Senior LecturerLLD or equivalent, in the field of Mercantile Lawteaching experience, in the field of Mercantile Law a record of quality peer reviewed publications in the field of Mercantile law a record of successful supervision at LLB final year levelDemonstrated competence in community engagement.Advantageous For Appointment At Associate ProfessorExperience in teaching Corporate Law and / or Fintech Lawproven experience at doctoral levelAdvantageous For Appointment At Senior LecturerExperience in teaching Corporate Law and / or Fintech LawPublications in Corporate Law and / or Fintech Law Supervision at Master’s and Doctoral level would be advantageousThe following will serve as a strong recommendation in being considered for appointment at both levels:A doctorate teaching experience and research publications and / or postgraduate supervision in Corporate Law or Fintech Law and Regulation.In your application, you are encouraged to highlight your strengths and include anything else you deem exceptional and outstanding to be considered by the selection panel.
