Job Title: General Ledger AccountantDepartment: Finance Shared ServicesLocation: Trinidad and TobagoReports To: Director of General Ledger and Fixed AssetsJob SummaryThe General Ledger Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards within the telecommunications finance shared services organisation. This role involves preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, and assisting with financial reporting. Key Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS/GAAP/SOX and company policies. Reconcile general ledger accounts, and investigate variances, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Support the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring deadlines are met. Perform intercompany reconciliations and liaise with stakeholders to resolve issues. Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Ensure compliance with internal controls and support process improvements within the finance shared services function. Work closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other finance teams to ensure data integrity. Support the automation and optimization of financial processes within the shared services environment.
Qualifications And Experience Audit background in a Big Four practice is a plus. Professional certification (e. g. , CPA, ACCA, ACA or CIMA) is a requirement. 3+ years of experience in financial or management accounting, preferably in the telecommunications industry or a finance-shared services environment. Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and financial reporting standards. Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite) and revenue accounting software. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze large data sets. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
