Job Description

The Aviation Managing Director & Accountable Manager is the executive leader responsible for ensuring that the airline's operations comply with all applicable aviation laws, regulations, and safety standards. This role is designated by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and holds ultimate accountability for the implementation and effectiveness of the airline's Safety Management System (SMS), operational integrity, airworthiness of the aircraft, and regulatory compliance.Key AccountabilitiesRegulatory ComplianceEnsure the airline operates in full compliance with national and international aviation regulations (e.g., ICAO Annexes, local CAA regulations).Serve as the primary liaison with the Civil Aviation Authority and other regulatory bodies. Maintain the validity of the Air Operator Certificate (if applicable) or other operational approvals.Safety & Quality OversightOversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS).Promote a strong safety culture across all departments.Ensure effective compliance monitoring and quality assurance programs are in place.Ensure that all operational manuals and procedures are current and effectiveResource ManagementEnsure that sufficient financial, human, and technical resources are available to support safe and compliant operations All the maintenance functions at the Line Station.Approve budgets and resource allocations for operational departments.Leadership & GovernanceProvide strategic direction and leadership to the airline's operational and safety teams.Ensure that all postholders (e.g., Head of Flight Operations, Maintenance, Ground Operations, Crew Training) are competent and adequately supported. Participate in executive decision-making and risk management processes.Audit & Performance MonitoringReview internal and external audit findings and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.Monitor key performance indicators (KPI’s) related to safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.Skills, Knowledge & ExperienceDegree in aviation management, engineering, business administration, or related field Proven senior management experience in commercial aviation or airline operations.ln-depth knowledge of aviation regulations and safety systems.Recognized by the national aviation authority as eligible to serve as Accountable Manager.Strong leadership, communication, people and decision-making skills.
