Are you ready to join a team that dreams as big as you do?The key purpose of this role is to lead and manage brewing operations to ensure consistent beer quality, reliable production, and optimal plant performance. The role is responsible for implementing brewing strategies, driving continuous improvement through VPO practices, ensuring adherence to technical and quality standards, and developing high-performing brewing teams while maintaining strong control of safety, operational, and financial performance within the brewery.Key Roles and Responsibilities:Output and AccountabilityOccupational Health, Safety and RiskEnsure that Brewery quality and taste targets are metEnsure overall reliability of productionProcess optimization and asset management and plant availabilityBrewing Strategy and ImplementationTranslate and implement brewing strategies within the framework of the manufacturing and business strategiesEnsure disciplined execution of standard work practices at the regional brewery levelEnsure that brand and brewing process standards are metEnsure that brewing technical and brand audits are conducted as per the QA audit schedule and deviations identified and managed through the non-conformance management processTastingChampion ongoing improvements in Brewing using and entrenching VPO tools, routines and practicesAdherence to the Brewing and IBMS technical and business audit schedulePeople ManagementFacilitate team problem solving and decision-makingManage people in alignment with ABInBev Leadership practicesPeople ManagementFacilitate team problem solving and decision-makingManage people in alignment with ABInBev Leadership practicesLead the brewing team in a manner that engenders ownership, empowerment and team interactionLead the development of brewing team goals and ensure these are communicated and understood by team membersConduct regular brewing team goal review sessions, and conduct regular one on one and performance reviewsEnsure training need analyses are conducted and training plans developed for team membersEnsure appropriate competencies are developed in the team, and ensure cross skilling occurs within the engineering teamProvide coaching and mentorship to brewing levels 1, 2, 3Brewing Managers are responsible for managing technical trainees, providing guidance, supervising development and actively participating in trainee checkoutsBrewing OptimisationOngoing optimisation of brewing quality and production processesAnalyses plant performance data to identify opportunities for improvement to plant performance and initiates opportunity evaluationAnalyses plant failure modes and investigate causes for repeat failures to correct root causesEnsures that continuous improvement is built into brewing team goals and forms part of regular goal review sessionsManage financial performance (prepare and manage budgets) and monthly financial Short Interval ControlMinimum Requirements:BSc Degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is requiredBrewing qualification IBD Brewing Diploma is a minimum requirementSAB Ltd Brewing Traineeship (or ABInBev certified equivalent) is a further minimum requirementAt least 8-10 years production experience, of which 5 years’ operating at a management level within BrewingDemonstrated experience in driving commercial decisions in a brewery (financial, operational, people)Good working knowledge of all VPO, SAP modules and NOSA Safety Standards and requirementsAdditional Information:Band: VI
