As a leading national company, MCSI plays a significant role in Mongolia’s development by modernizing the energy and infrastructure sectors.Role DescriptionWe are seeking a proactive and analytical Business Development Engineer to support the company’s project research and development, market study, and business expansion efforts. This role bridges the gap between engineering and commercial functions — combining technical insight, financial understanding, and market intelligence to identify and develop new projects and investment opportunities across the energy and infrastructure sectors.Key responsibilitiesConduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new business and project opportunities.Support project origination and feasibility assessment, including technical and financial evaluations.Develop concept designs, technical proposals, and investment justifications for potential projects.Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal, and environmental teams to assess project viability and risks.Support partnership development and project evaluation activities, including technical due diligence and preliminary assessments.Engage with clients, regulators, and industry partners to gather insights on market trends and project requirements.Contribute to strategic partnership development, joint ventures, and investment proposals.Maintain and continuously update a database of business opportunities, markets, and competitors.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, or related); Master’s degree is a plus.Proficiency in English (written and spoken); Chinese is an advantage.Experience in business development, project development within energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors is preferred but not required.Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities.Strong collaboration and teamwork skills across technical and commercial teams.Understanding of project lifecycles, from concept and feasibility to execution and operations.Competence in financial analysis and modelling using MS Excel is preferred but not required.Ability to interpret and analyse policies, regulations, and market frameworks.Experience preparing technical reports, concept notes, or investment documents.Familiarity with project finance and techno-economic analysis concepts, including CAPEX/OPEX, LCOE, IRR, and cash flow modelling.Working knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, or simulation tools for technical assessments (advantageous).Knowledge of energy systems, industrial plants, or infrastructure development processes is an advantage.
