Business Development Manager – Clinical Trials Location: Victoria (Hybrid / Onsite / Remote) Employment Type: Full-time preferred (Part-time considered)A highly respected Clinical Trial Unit in Victoria is looking for an experienced, commercially minded Business Development Manager to join their growing team. This role is ideal for someone with a proven background in clinical research business development, especially in early-phase trials, and an existing network across sponsors, biotech, and CROs.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and drive business development strategy to support ongoing site growth across early-phase trialsEstablish, nurture, and expand strategic partnerships with sponsors, biotech, and CROsRepresent the clinical unit at industry conferences, national and international meetings, and other external eventsCollaborate with senior leadership to identify and evaluate Phase I–II opportunitiesWork cross-functionally, aligning feasibility, budgeting, and operational readiness with growth objectivesMentor and develop the internal BD capability by supporting and guiding team membersContribute to long-term commercial planning, market modeling, and expansion strategyKey RequirementsMinimum of 2+ years of business development experience in the clinical trials spaceProven track record working in a Clinical Trial Unit, CRO, or biotech/service providerDeep understanding of early-phase trials and the sponsor/CRO ecosystemStrong business relationships; proven ability to build and maintain long-term client engagementsDemonstrated experience in the Australian clinical trial market is crucial; international experience is highly regardedConfident presenter and representative at industry-facing eventsStrategic thinker, passionate about clinical research, and able to work collaborativelyExperience leading or mentoring a team is preferredThis position offers a meaningful opportunity to shape the commercial future of a specialised clinical trial unit, helping to drive its growth and impact within the research landscape.
