Job Description

Position PurposeTo balance the cash book against the bank statement accurately and timeously according to prescribed financial procedures.Experience1 - 2 years insurance/medical aid industry experience on cashbook and bank reconciliationQualificationsMatric; Qualification in bookkeeping (preferable).AccountabilitiesClient service delivery and quality:Follow procedures and cooperate with peers and leader for best possible service deliveryCompliance and Risk Management:Defined legal, statutory and regulatory compliance is maintained at the required standardsOperational risk and governance structures, measures and frameworks are complied with and necessary action is taken to address issues, when necessaryFinancial Management:Contribute to cost savings within the department to assist with financial goals and targetsOperating Model:Accurate and timely capturing of all bank transactions and preventing long outstanding reconciliation itemsConduct accurate matching of transactions for weekly and monthly bank reconciliationsPrepare accurate and timely bank reconciliationsFollow up and resolved unknown deposits and other discrepancies within define deadlinesManage cash flow requirements by ensuring claims run balancing process, capturing and upkeep of EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer)/cashdesk registers and to ensure authorisation of transactions together with fraud awarenessMeet delivery objectives through working with other team members within and linked to the department / projectResolve operational performance variations and problems and escalate unresolved issues to higher levelsEnsure delivery targets/objectives are met and operate in a supportive manner to achieve successful deliveryOperational Implementation of Strategy:Keep up to date with operational changes implemented in response to important external influencesDeliver in a manner that supports and meets operational quality standards and meets the defined departmental prioritiesPerform according to defined operational best practice and identify and implement opportunities for continuous delivery improvementOperational Leadership:Deliver personal performance within Human Capital frameworks and policies to ensure delivery to agreed standards and objectivesEngage in development, coaching and mentoringSupport transformation through valuing diversityBehave in alignment with the Afrocentric valuesStakeholder Management:Ensure appropriate, active and informative relationships with customers and relevant stakeholders are successfully achievedAddress customer or stakeholder complaints in alignment with the policies and procedures and ensuring customer / stakeholder buy-in.Competency RequirementsKnowledge:Knowledge and application of relevant legislation and regulationsSkill:Customer FocusAttention to Accuracy and DetailBusiness Writing SkillsProblem solving and decision making skillsComputer Technology SkillsTask ManagementCommunication SkillsAdobe Creative SuiteData modelling and evaluationNumerical AbilityAbility to Maintain, reconcile or adjust financial records.Turnaround TimeThe shortlisting process will only start once the application due date has been reached.
