Chief Accountant

Our client is a well-established international production company with strong presence in both local and global markets. The company is known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and operational excellence.As Chief Accountant, you will oversee the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring full compliance with applicable accounting standards, laws, and regulations. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will manage and develop a small team of accounting professionals, driving efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement across the finance function.Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:• Lead, mentor, and motivate the accounting team to deliver high-quality results and foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.• Oversee all aspects of accounting operations and financial reporting in accordance with international and local standards.• Manage relationships with key external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisors, banks, and regulatory authorities.• Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial statements and reports on a monthly and annual basis for all business divisions.• Coordinate and lead the annual audit process; liaise with external auditors and management to implement required changes or improvements.• Ensure revenues, discounts, and expenses are accurately recorded and reconciled each month.• Recommend, implement, and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and systems to strengthen internal controls and efficiency.• Drive initiatives aimed at optimizing tax and accounting processes and improving overall departmental performance.• Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting.• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the accounting team.In respect of the ideal candidate profile:• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline• Minimum 5 years relevant experience in accounting or finance, ideally within a production or international business environment.• In-depth understanding of accounting theory and best practices.• Proven leadership and change management experience, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.• Excellent knowledge of Bulgarian accounting and tax legislation, double taxation treaties, and both Bulgarian and International Accounting Standards (IFRS).• Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.• High degree of integrity, reliability, and professional ethics.• Good English and advanced computer literacy (MS Office, ERP software).• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines under pressure.• Demonstrated success handling sensitive and confidential information.• Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.• Energetic, results-driven, and adaptable personality with a proactive, hands-on approach.The company offers:• Position in an established and growing business• An interesting, challenging job in a highly motivated team• Work in a dynamic and friendly environment• Excellent remuneration package and work conditions with home days• Freedom to fully bring in your individual strengths and skillsWe are at your disposal for further information and comments.
