Chief Financial Officer

We are assisting a well-established construction company in Chicago’s northern suburbs with their search for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This strategic leader will oversee all financial, accounting, IT, and HR functions, ensuring strong financial performance, operational efficiency, and sound governance. The CFO will serve as a trusted partner to the executive team, providing clear insights into the company’s financial health and driving initiatives that support growth and profitability.Compensation: $175,000 – $195,000 + Bonus Responsibilities:Lead and develop the Finance, Accounting, HR, and IT teams. Oversee all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, tax, credit/collections, and financial reporting. Drive continuous improvement in ERP systems, internal controls, and financial processes. Manage annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and monthly WIP (Work in Progress) reviews with project managers to evaluate job performance and manage risk. Partner with leadership to align financial strategy with business goals and provide data-driven insights for growth and investment decisions. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to proactively assess performance and financial health. Safeguard company assets through effective risk management, audit coordination, and compliance with GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley standards. Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; Master’s or CPA preferred. Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in Accounting/Finance leadership (CFO, VP Finance, or Controller experience preferred). Construction or related services industry experience required, including percentage-of-completion (WIP) accounting. Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance. Proven leadership and communication skills with a hands-on, strategic mindset. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
