Job Description
Department: Office of the CEOLocation: Remote - United StatesCompensation: $200,000 - $250,000 / yearDescriptionThe CompanyIn 2019, we started building profitable startups from scratch. We brought together top engineering minds from places like Princeton and MIT to drive the highest success rate in the industry and turn company building into a science.During that time, we’ve built ten high-growth companies, driving $200M+ in revenue. Along the way, we’ve developed an engineering approach to entrepreneurship rooted in algorithms and advanced mathematics. Now, we’re working to automate company building to the point that we can press a button to launch profitable companies—ventures that can reinvest their own resources to become enterprises that help millions, or even billions, of people.A Message from Our CEO“At Mechanism, our goal is to generate $10B in liquid enterprise value over the next 10 years. We call it ‘10-in-10.’My job is to architect the system, lead our boards, and stay focused on the highest-leverage work that drives that outcome. That means everything else—the internal engine—needs to operate without me slowing it down. That’s where you come in. I’m looking for a partner who can own operations end-to-end, eliminate drag, and turn our internal playbooks into AI-enabled systems that compound. Someone who sees leverage, thinks from first principles, and turns chaos into momentum. If you want a high-trust seat at the table, and you’re ready to go to war for Alpha, this is it.”– Breanden Beneschott, Mechanism Cofounder & CEOThe OpportunityOur 10-in-10 goal to generate $10 billion in liquid enterprise value is not a linear path—it's a compounding equation. The most critical variable in that equation is leverage. To win, we must build a system where every input of capital, time, and talent produces an ever-increasing output of value. We are seeking a Chief Leverage Officer to own this mission. This person will be the operational architect of our entire internal engine, with a singular mandate: to create maximum leverage for our Growth Team and portfolio companies, enabling them to achieve the leverage our 10-in-10 goal requires.Key ResponsibilitiesYou Have Three Core MissionsOwn the Operational Engine: Take full ownership of our internal engine. You will lead all non-growth teams (Product, Engineering, Finance, People, Operations, etc.), transforming them from support functions into a high-leverage, AI-enabled system that provides seamless leverage to our portfolio companies, profit centers, launch teams, and our growth team. Accelerate the Launch Machine: Your second mandate is to enable our Chief Growth Officer and her team to increase our company launch rate. You’ll do this by building the infrastructure—AI systems, internal tooling, and operational processes—that removes drag and amplifies their speed. Your success is measured by how effectively you help them go faster, with fewer blockers and greater precision. Maximize CEO Leverage: Your third mandate is to act as my direct force multiplier (~20% of your time). You will own high-impact special projects, serve as my proxy in key operational decisions, and leverage automation to free up my time, ensuring my focus remains on system-level strategy. Core RequirementsSkills, Knowledge and ExpertiseRoleThe right candidate will recognize themselves in the message above. This is not a role for a traditional operator; it is for a builder who can demonstrate the following:Pedigree (STEM + top-firm): BS/BA in Engineering/CS/OR or Physics/Math, and full-time experience at a top firm in strategy, investment banking, or private equity/growth. Executive Operational Experience: Proven success in a Chief of Staff, BizOps, or similar leadership role where you were responsible for the performance and output of multiple teams at a high-growth company. D2C Growth Literacy: A background in performance marketing is required. We see direct experience with performance marketing not as a requisite for running marketing campaigns, but as a strong indicator of a first-principles mindset—a rigorous understanding of inputs, outputs, and the levers that connect them. You are deeply analytical, think from first principles, and have an intuitive grasp of the core metrics (CAC, LTV, scale) that drive a business. Founder Mentality: Prior experience as a founder or an early-stage operator is highly preferred. You understand the urgency, relentless resourcefulness, and ownership required to turn vision into reality. Strategic and Discerning Mindset: You distinguish signal from noise. You can rapidly identify the leverage points in any system or company and have experience serving as a trusted advisor to CEOs on high-consequence decisions. Systems Thinking & Product Mindset: A track record of architecting and implementing scalable systems (including AI/automation). You can define requirements, manage complex projects, and deliver compounding improvements. Stage & Scale Fit: You’ve operated in startup/small-company environments (typically ≤250 employees and ≤Series C). If your impact has primarily been in large enterprises, this role will not be a fit. BenefitsCompensationOur compensation packages are designed to make this your dream job—both immediately and over the long term. Base salary ranges from $200,000 to $250,000, with total compensation tailored to your priorities. Packages may include equity and performance bonuses.
