Job DescriptionWe currently have an opening for a Civil Engineer (Intermediate) in our Markham office. The successful candidate will have 5+ years of experience and will be expected to provide innovative design, while working in a dynamic team environment, to improve overall group performance and Client service. You’ll provide technical expertise and project coordination on municipal infrastructure projects for public sector Clients.You will assist our local team in the design, construction, and project management of a wide variety of projects including smaller and larger scale municipal infrastructure developments and the civil component of municipal facilities project. The core requirements for the role are strong technical capabilities covering all aspects of civil design specifically watermain, sanitary sewer and storm sewer design.You will have hands-on involvement in preparing studies, designs, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents. Participation in scheduling, budgeting, tendering, and contract administration for infrastructure projects is also part of the role, including involvement in business development and preparation of proposals.You will also have significant interaction with Clients, Contractors, and Subconsultants. The position brings with it the potential for excellent career growth as you will be involved in many wide ranging and varied projects. Travel will be required at times based on project requirements.This individual will promote the firm’s vision and culture, and meeting the strategic goals and objectives established in collaboration with the Group Manager. Responsibilities include the following: Completing assignments with minimal guidance from Senior EngineersCoordinating Technicians and Designers to ensure that contract drawings are accurately prepared and checkedCoordinating Subconsultants’ activity on projectsPreparing and reviewing written technical reports including but not limited to feasibility studies, concept design, detailed design, and design criteria reportsPreparing contract documents and construction drawingsPerforming project coordination tasks including communications with Clients, managing schedules, budgets, and reporting requirementsAchieving budget compliance on assigned engineering projects to comply financial objectivesDelivering projects on budget and within identified schedulesAssisting with writing proposals to procure new projectsCommunicating effectively and clearly, written and verbalExecuting projects in accordance with company guidelines and standardsParticipating in scheduling, budgeting, tendering, and inspectionActing as the primary contact for all project-related Client & Company Site Inspector communicationsEngaging in a collaborative work environment with your team, as well as other disciplines and officesComplying and working within COR certified environment and performing all duties in accordance with those specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act and applicable legislation Job RequirementsUndergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institutionRegistered as a Professional Engineer with PEO5+ years of progressive experience in designing municipal infrastructure is essentialExperience of designing infrastructure projects in Ontario, considered an assetTrenchless design experience would be an assetProven integrity to deal with sensitive, privileged and confidential employee or Client mattersProven ability to liaise and manage Clients, Contractors, and other Consultants’ relationshipsExcellent interpersonal and organizational skillsResults oriented and ability to work under pressureDemonstrated prioritization, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to liaise effectively and clearlyProficient in use of MS Office Suite of products including collaborative software such as OneNote and SharePointValid driver’s license & ability to travel within Canada, as necessary Associated Engineering will provide the right candidate with the tools required to develop their skills and career in Civil Engineering while working in a friendly and inclusive environment.
