Job Summary And RequirementsThis postingThis posting will be used to hire one permanent full-time position working 75 hours biweekly in the Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services branch with the Department of Health and Social Services. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon .Our teamThe Outpatient Team is a supportive, dynamic, knowledgeable and compassionate team with a strengths-based, trauma informed culture of peer consultation and work-life balance.We are grateful to be working and providing service to our community on the traditional territories of the Ta'an Kwäch'än Council and the Kwanlin Dün First Nation.We provide a range of responsive, high-quality services to meet the social, emotional and psychological needs of individuals 18 years and older living in Whitehorse, providing supportive present focused counselling, brief intervention, outreach support, group counselling, case management and consultation to government and community partners. Our programming is innovative and offers a mix of low barrier and more formal counselling programming.Your roleReporting to the Clinical Supervisor of the Adult Outpatient Counselling Program, you and your team will provide a of range services including assessing readiness, matching clients for services, case formulation, case planning and supportive and present focused counselling. As a Clinical Social Worker, a significant part of the role involves brief intervention and there is the opportunity to learn solution focused brief therapy or ACT for Brief Intervention and hone your single session and brief intervention skills. You will receive regular clinical supervision, a range of training both standard and self directed, and the support of a knowledgeable and compassionate team of clinical social workers and clinical counsellors.This job is dynamic and can involve a mix in any given day, depending on needs of the service and your interests – you will never need to feel bored working here! The Clinical Social Worker role provides in-house counselling and support as well as itinerant services and workshops within the community of Whitehorse. Bachelor’s degree or higher in social work or related field Recent and significant post degree experience providing counselling to clients with mental health and/or substance use concerns Recent and relevant experience with providing individual counselling. Recent and relevant experience in group and/or workshop facilitation Experience with solution focused brief therapy or other brief intervention models is an asset. Effective written and oral communication skill complimented with strong conflict resolution skills. Ability to quickly learn and apply a new digital case management system that moves clinical processes from intake, assessment, treatment planning, progress measurement, to data analysis and outputs/outcomes. Ability to deliver between 4-5 hours of direct client work per day. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License TB Screening RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check Verification of degree WHMIS 2015 (within one month of hire) Job RequirementsThis job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following: Carry a small caseload of complex and vulnerable clients. Deliver at least 4 client facing hours of work per day Working with individual clients in a brief intervention model (1-3 sessions) Direct contact with clients including those who may be upset, aggressive or suicidal. Frequent exposure to clients and their families who are under the influence of substances and/or experiencing mental health challenges. Frequent exposure to clients and families who may be in a heightened or dysregulated state, displaying unpredictable or aggressive behaviour. Extended periods of computer use for documentation and participation in virtual care appointments.
