This landmark contract marks a significant milestone for Navantia Australia, as it is the company’s first contract held directly with the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA), underscoring its commitment to innovation and excellence in the maritime industry.Operating under the Design Support Contract (DSC), we have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join the team at the Darling Park, Sydney Office. In the role you will be responsible for managing all commercial, contractual, financial, risk and quality aspects of the Program, ensuring the objectives and obligations of Navantia at a business unit and enterprise level are complied with.Your responsibilities will include:Manage a small team of specialist personnel delivering the commercial, contractual, financial, risk and quality aspects of the program.Povide specialist support and advice to the DSC Program to ensure the commercial and contractual aspects comply with the Contract and its requirements.Ensure the actions and behaviors of the Commercial Team meet the highest standards of probity and professionalism at all times.Determine appropriate governance, processes and standards to be applied and ensure compliance with sound financial, legal and commercial principles.Lead and supervise reporting staff, determine operational priorities, monitor and review performance and guide the ongoing professional development of team members to ensure staff have the knowledge, skills and support to achieve the organisation’s objectives.Procure and manage appropriately informed expert commercial advice from a variety of specialist disciplines, particularly engineering, financial, legal, accounting and tax, and interpret and synthesise inputs into appropriate commercial outcomes.Ongoing reporting and analysis of performance against Performance Scorecard/KPIs and performance (including detailed and robust variance analysis to financial budget).Monitor the performance of the DSC contract and where necessary escalate issues and/or take corrective action.Establish and maintain relevant contract information inclusive of specific insurances and performance guarantees.Manage head contract and subcontract Intellectual Property (IP) to ensure compliance with the relevant Deeds.Manage warranty and defect claims ensuring compliance with Contractual obligations.Compile, submit and negotiate Contract Change Proposals (CCPs) ensuring all relevant information is captured and included (scope, costs, schedule etc).Lead the compilation and submission of all Survey and Quote activities.Manage the Quality and Risk aspects of the Contract ensuring all activities comply with the requirements including accreditation of the Quality Management System.As the ideal candidate, you will have:A relevant Degree in law, commerce, business or a related discipline.A minimum of 10 years’ experience with in a relatable commercial/contracting environment.Demonstrate Commercial and business acumen through practical application and achievement of business goals.Experience in a Defence / Maritime environment highly regarded.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Highly developed, proven analytical and problem-solving skills.The ability to build and maintain strong relationships and networks with key stakeholders whilst working collaboratively across a diverse and complex environment.Resilient, adaptable and someone who is comfortable making informed decisions and taking the initiative.Ability to bring people together, build relationships and manage situations in a diplomatic and professional manner.Knowledge and understanding of ASDEFCON contracts highly desirable.Flexible and effective when adapting to changing priorities and complexity in a time constrained environment.Australian Citizenship.What it's like to work with Navantia AustraliaNavantia Australia plays a key part in the Australian government's Naval Shipbuilding Plan, we are committed to growing Australia's shipbuilding and sustainment capability and we want you to grow your career with us.
