Georgia Rivers seeks a Communications Coordinator as part of our team working to protect and connect people with rivers and streams across Georgia.  Who we are looking for:A dedicated team member who believes in our mission and enjoys our work. The Communications Coordinator collaborates with staff and partners to promote conservation action, public education, and other goals of the organization through the development, coordination, and implementation of messages and through outreach to the general public, membership, and donors.This position is responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating communications for advocacy, marketing and development for the full range of conservation action campaigns, public education projects, and other activities, including fundraising. The job we need you to do may include:Coordinate Georgia Rivers’ CommunicationsSocial Media Coordination Develop publications, newsletters, fact sheets and other communication materials for conservation action and development campaigns. Support media engagement for promoting GR and our work. Cultivate relations with reporters and seek their support for initiatives and positions. Write and release statements to the media, including opinion pieces for staff and volunteers. Develop and update media lists.Provide support for member communications, media relations, marketing, and fundraising.Provide regular, fresh, engaging content and interaction on our website, social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube), blogs, and print communications (brochures, event flyers and digital ads)Produce our monthly e-newsletter Coordinate production of legislative updatesCreate board reports for the executive directorCoordinate production of our Annual Report at the end of the yearPromote our events with print and digital flyers, social media promotion, newsletter articles, media releases, Patagonia Action Works and other places to post eventsUpdate website content and calendarsTrack performance statistics on Georgia Rivers’ communications Oversee consistent and uniform use of our brandingEvent tabling, power point presentation development and preparation of exhibit display materialsProvide field support for Paddle Georgia tripsRespond to information requests Assist the Executive Director with donor and sponsor relations communicationAssist Okefenokee Protection Alliance communications committee and assistance with press and social media etcMaintain Square Up store for merchandise kept up to dateCoordinate auction and raffle organization as neededAssist with renewal mailings and appealsMaintain email list in Constant Contact Design graphics, both print and digital Assist grant writing and applications as neededSupervise interns, contractors, part time staff or full time staff hired to support communications.Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned, including support of member engagement events and river trips. What qualifies you for the job:Expertise, experience, traits and skills matching many of the job responsibilities, proficiencies, and attributes listed aboveProficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Power Point; Google Docs and email; and working knowledge of Adobe programs, Canva, Wordpress, Constant Contact and Donor Perfect and video editing and production software are a plus.Graphic design proficiency.Ability and willingness to regularly work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. A Bachelor’s degree, preferred English, Marketing, Communications or Public Relations Enthusiasm for protecting Georgia’s rivers and a passion for nature & outdoor recreationAbility to work independently and cooperatively with others.Excellent organization and time management skills.Superior verbal, written and editing skills. Orientation towards service.Basic understanding of watershed protection issues and non-profit organizations is helpful.Ability to conduct complete and thorough researchTwo years of experience in communicationsDemonstrated familiarity with conservation and environmental topics, issues, and literature.Proficiency in social media platform including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and You Tube; Knowledge of Wordpress website design editingAbility to work cooperatively with staff and volunteers.Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.Compensation: $45,000 - $60,000 commensurate with experience; a generous vacation policy; medical, vision, and life insurance; and a matching 401k retirement plan. Application Procedures: Please submit a resume, cover letter, and samples of relevant work products demonstrating how your traits, expertise, experience, and skills match the job responsibilities and qualifications.
