Summary of Role: Inceptiv is looking for an hourly, senior-level life sciences/biotechnology transactions attorney to serve as outside general counsel for early-stage, investor backed biotech, pharma, and health-tech companies. This is an operational, client facing delivery role for someone who wants to apply their deep in-house experience to a portfolio of dynamic growth-stage companies and work alongside a small team of like-minded professionals. The ideal candidate will have developed a solid base of skills at a large law firm and have significant experience as a current or former in-house counsel at a life sciences or biotechnology company. This attorney should bring a practical, operational mindset and the ability to navigate the unique mix of commercial, regulatory, and intellectual property issues that define the life sciences industry. Work History: 5+ years of national/international level firm experience 5+ years of experience as a General Counsel, Deputy GC, Assistant GC, or senior commercial/transactions counsel at a biotech, pharma, or medical device company Core experience in: Research collaboration and joint development agreements Licensing (in- and out-licensing of IP, know-how, and technology) Clinical trial agreements, CRO and vendor agreements Manufacturing, supply, and distribution agreements Strategic alliances, sponsored research, and option deals Data sharing, privacy, and HIPAA-related agreements Vendor Agreements Collaboration agreements Familiarity with one or more of: Employee compensation Employment and labor law Regulatory frameworks (FDA and related compliance issues) Client Industries: Biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostics, digital health, and health-tech companies backed by institutional investors Skills: Operational mindset Strong communication and interpersonal skills Detail orientation Efficient and strong work ethic Location: This is a fully remote position, however Inceptiv Law is based in San Diego, CA, so West Coast timezone is preferred. Credentials: J.D.
