ResponsibilitiesStrategic:• Develop and approve, in conjunction with the CEO and senior management, the CCD strategy including the development and implementation of the required policies, processes and procedures.• Advising management on defining CCD policies, plans and objectives, as per requirements of customer, statutory, regulatory and corporate.• Plan and implement CCD training programs.• Promoting a correct procedural contractual and claims culture among project teams.• Ensure the objectives noted above (to support our projects and maximize our contractual entitlements) are implemented fully and effectively by our CCD team.Managerial:• Manage, monitor, mentor, supervise and support the department and follow up on and review our staffs’ tasks.• Look ahead manpower planning for projects utilizing our existing staff.• Request additional staff resources from senior management if required, and interview potential new staff for the department.• Monitor the training needs of department staff and deliver periodic training as required.• Ensure proper department systems and procedures are prepared, updated and being implemented.• Arrange and chair periodic Contracts & Claims Department meetings with the department staff allocated to a project (video conference for remote sites), to discuss concerns, issues, review logs and reports, and disseminate updates to the staff.• Set KPIs for department staff and carry out bi-annual performance reviews of the department’s staff and listen to their concerns and suggestions.• Periodic review of staff salaries and making recommendations to senior management regarding proposed increments/bonuses.• Motivate the department’s staff and enhance the work environment where possible by the effective planning of the office space and managing department requirements.• Holiday planning for the department to ensure adequate cover is maintained during peak holiday periods.• Keep up to date on the latest contracts & claims developments in the industry and ensuring that these are disseminated to the department.Contracts and claims other:• Review and comment on Subcontracts, Amendments and contractual correspondence prepared by Contract Administration staff within the department.• Assist the department with detailed reviews of our claims positions for historic projects and advising senior management Accordingly.• Preparation of reports, correspondence, contractual advice and recommendations to senior management.• Coordinate and arrange with all relevant departments to assist with the finalization of department requirements/outputs.• Contractual advice and recommendations to project teams.• In conjunction with CCD staff, carry out a contractual/claims risk and opportunities review of the proposed main contract during the project’s tender stage and advise the Tendering department and senior management Accordingly.• Provide assistance to project teams where required in the close out of existing projects in terms of contractual formalities.• Assist the Procurement department in the pre-qualification review of new subcontractors / vendors.• Review and comment on tracking logs and reports produced by the department staff (e.g. draft subcontract status log, contractual correspondence log, variations log, claims log etc.).• Represent the department in visits to sites to support with any issues that need our assistance.• Represent the department in general meetings and advise and comment as required.• Generally, also support the department in the achievement of his responsibilities.
