We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead financial oversight and operational accounting across Cheer Home Care and Health Care. This role is highly visible and hands-on—responsible for driving financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, improving process efficiency, and partnering directly with operations to enable profitable growth and best-in-class service.The ideal candidate is both strategic and tactical—comfortable rolling up their sleeves while also advising leadership on financial performance and operational improvements. The controller will report to the CEO and operate out of the Cheer office located at 5622 La Jolla Blvd, La Jolla, CA 92037.What You'll Do:Financial Reporting & Performance ManagementEnsure timely and accurate financial reportingLead the month-end close process for operations, including account reconciliations and intercompany settlementsPrepare and analyze financial statements, variance analysis, and operational dashboardsMaintain key reporting metrics, including A/R aging and 13-week cash forecastsInternal Controls & Compliance:Ensuring the company complies with state and federal regulations, primarily as it applies to compliance with compensation requirements for employees falling under CA wage orders 15 & 22Identify, assess, and remediate internal control gaps across field operationsStandardize accounting practices and procedures to ensure accuracy and consistencyOversee controls related to payroll, invoicing, cash handling, and authorization levelsAssist with conducting performance evaluations and reinforcing a culture of accountability and continuous improvementSystems, Audit & Strategic Projects Support:ERP implementations and system integrations within field operationsPrepare audit schedules and support tax and sales tax reporting requirementsServe as a subject matter expert for Accounting and partner with Operations leadership on performance optimization initiativesWhat Success Looks Like:Experienced, knowledgeable, and comfortable working within small, growing, entrepreneurial organizationsAccurate and on-time monthly financial close and reportingReduced inventory variance and improved VMI controlsStrengthened financial discipline and operational transparency across field locationsRequirementsCPA (preferred)Home or Health Care Industry Knowledge (preferred)Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 10+ years of relevant accounting or financial leadership experienceExpert understanding of accounting, financial statements, and internal controlsAdvanced Excel skills and experience with major ERP systemsStrong communication, leadership presence, and ability to collaborate across functionsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and drive outcomes independentlyIf you are a hands-on financial leader who thrives in an operational environment and enjoys building scalable processes that support growth, we would love to speak with youBenefitsFun work environmentSupportive team and managementMedical Insurance, Anthem Blue Cross or KaiserVision and dental benefits are availableMatching 4% 401K PlanCompany bonus plan based on performanceCareer Advancement OpportunitiesSalary: $130,000 to $175,000, depending on experience and industry knowledge.
