If you are interested in becoming a member of a progressive, community oriented Sheriff's Office, the Portage County Sheriff's Office may be right for you.This position has a 7 on / 7 off work schedule!2025 starting pay is $25.47 per hourWhat are the primary job responsibilities?Supervises inmates and maintains security of Jail and Juvenile Detention CenterFirst line inmate grievance mediatorCompletion of initial mental health screeningsAssists in the transport of prisoners to and from facilities, courts and medical/mental treatment facilitiesDispense medication and assist nurse with medical visitsProvides mental and physical triage to inmatesMaintain required data, complete necessary forms and document behavioral problemsPhotograph and fingerprint inmatesThese are the skills we are seekingHigh school diploma or equivalent.Prior corrections experience preferred.Additional Requirements IncludeValid Wisconsin Driver's LicenseNo felony convictions unless pardoned by the GovernorMust be 18 years of age or older and a U.S. CitizenMust meet and maintain recruitment and eligibility criteria established by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board of JailersMust satisfactorily complete all required training and pass background check (within one year of employment, we will provide the 200-hour Corrections Academy at MSTC for you to be certified by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board.)Portage County offers an AWESOME benefit package, which includes the following;Vacation - available on day one!Health insurance- your choice of two health plans- (Health Savings Account associated with a High Deductible Health Plan with a County contribution or a PPO Co-pay plan)Wellness incentive plan offered with health insurance enrollment!
