Special Salary InformationNew appointments shall be compensated at Step 3 ($4,147. 10/monthly) of the Child Support Specialist I salary range. DefinitionParticipates in on-the-job training by performing specialized duties related to the intake, establishment, and enforcement of court orders for the collection of child support obligations.

Classification StandardsPositions allocable to this entry-level class are assigned to the Child Support Services Department, receive instruction and practical experience under close supervision, and typically report to a Supervising Child Support Officer. Incumbents obtain information from various sources, use case management systems, initiate and process case documents, and respond to inquiries from the public while developing an increasing knowledge of child support programs, systems and applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.

Positions in this class are distinguished from the journey-level classification of Child Support Officer II by the performance of assignments of limited scope and complexity where technical review of work is made on a frequent basis. Incumbents in this class are required to serve a one-year probationary period.
