Credit Officer

Role PurposeThe Credit Officer is responsible for assessing, processing, and monitoring credit applications in line with company policies. The role ensures creditworthiness of clients, minimizes financial risk, and supports healthy loan portfolio growth.Key Responsibilities1.     Evaluate and assess loan/credit applications for completeness, accuracy, and risk exposure.2.     Conduct credit checks, background verifications, and financial analysis of applicants.3.     Recommend approval, rejection, or modification of credit requests based on findings.4.     Ensure proper documentation and compliance with company credit policies and regulatory guidelines.5.     Monitor and follow up on approved loans to ensure timely repayment and flag potential defaults.6.     Prepare periodic reports on credit performance, delinquency trends, and risk exposure.7.     Assist in developing credit risk management strategies and controls.8.     Provide excellent customer service by explaining credit terms, repayment expectations, and company policies to clients.9.     Liaise with collection teams on overdue accounts and support recovery efforts.Required Qualifications & Skills·       Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.·       2–4 years’ experience in credit analysis, loan processing, or financial risk management.Skills & Competencies·       Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.·       Knowledge of credit risk frameworks, regulatory requirements, and loan recovery strategies.·       Proficiency in MS Office and financial analysis tools.·       Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.·       High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
