We are a global company headquartered in New York, with offices in Chicago, London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo.Data Centre Engineer - TokyoPurpose Of The RoleWorking within Pico’s and Pico’s clients’ various Data Centres in Tokyo the role holder will be responsible for the physical build and maintenance of our environment. Working closely with our Network and Systems engineering teams and our Project Management and client Service Delivery functions to ensure prompt delivery of all projects. With a structured approach, strong team ethos and the flexibility and commitment to solve problems and get things done, the role holder will be a key member of this small but highly skilled and integral team. A key requirement of this job is flexibility as the role holder will be expected to work in short change windows, late at night and out of hours.Responsibilities And Duties (include But Not Limited To)Equipment Rack and StackCable, Label & terminate fibre or copper network cablingAssist with the diagnosis of hardware and software - troubleshootingPerform cabinet/cage auditsBlade/Card, Memory, Hard Drive, and Transceiver installations or removalTesting and troubleshooting of copper and fibre optic circuitsPerform migrations of equipment, power, or networking devicesShipping and Receiving of packages in Office and co-locationsReceive, log, and store internal packagesArrange access for internal and external customersOrder, receive, install, and test cross connects (copper/fibre)Provide timely updates using a computer-based ticketing systemPerform and document inventory verification/counts and rack elevationMonitor and report on power utilization in co-locationsMaintain overall Data Centre cleanliness and appearanceWork flexible shift schedules including rotational on-call coverageReport to the facility within a 1hour average for emergency outage assistanceWe operate a few data centre's in APAC, the candidate will have to travel within APAC, sometimes on relatively short notice.Education, Skills And Background (incl. Education And Experience Requirements)1+ years of experience in Telecommunications or Data Centre related fieldIn depth knowledge of Telecom structured cabling standardsIn depth knowledge of network device / server deploymentIn depth knowledge of DCO standards and operations1+ years use of industry standard test equipmentEffective organizational skills and high attention to detailBuilding Management System and Branch Circuit Monitoring experienceStrong troubleshooting skillsProfessional business communication and interpersonal skillsMission Critical Data Centre Facility MaintenanceWorking Arrangements The working days for this role are Tuesday to Saturday (3pm to 11pm) - Saturday (8am to 5pm)This is a non-office based position. Travel between data centres in Tokyo (and occasionally beyond) will be required on an on-going basis. We operate many data centres globally, so the candidate will have to travel between EMEA, APAC and AMRS sometimes on short notice.
