We are looking for an experienced data science individual contributor for a unique multi-sport data program aimed at improving competitive outcomes for a division I NCAA athletics department. You believe data science & analytics can positively impact success of college athletics teams & are eager to help Pitt teams win championships. You will work closely w/ Engineering, Analytics & Data Science teammates to build data solutions informing decision-making for talent identification, roster management & sports administration. Factors impact your efforts: player evals, coaching, scholarships, injuries, transfer portal. You will work w/ cross-functional team w/ hybrid work structure (on-site & remote staff).
Collaborate w/ team of data & analytics engineers & scientists. Athletics coaches/staff & external partners . Required Technical Experience: relevant data science/analytics exp incl developing quantitative & machine learning models; Python or R; database technologies (data lake & warehouse) & SQL ; version control systems (GitHub). C loud technology familiarity enabling data science work (AWS). Essential FunctionsThe employee must have a proficient knowledge of networking, PC operating systems, and application software. The employee must be able to use standard PC equipment and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical EffortGenerally sedentary desk work with computer-keyboard-video phone other than traveling to other buildings on campus for meetings/events on occasion. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
